The Washington Commanders received a significant boost on Friday toward their dream of returning to the District of Columbia in a new stadium. The D.C. City Council gave initial approval, in a 9-3 vote, to a revised deal for a 65,000-seat stadium, the centerpiece of a $3.8 billion, multi-use development project on and around the old RFK Stadium site on East Capitol Street. The public-private deal is one of the largest in the city’s history. The team will spend $2.7 billion to build the stadium, with the city committing $1.1 billion in public funding toward the project. The investment will...

It’s official: Nowhere in Britain is safe from the woke speech police. First they stomped their jackboot on universities, where it’s now a risky business to express conservative opinions or even to state biological facts, including such sinful utterances as: “Men are not women.” Then they came for the workplace. Crack an off-color joke or voice a dissenting view and you might be made to take an “awareness-raising course” — or what the Soviets called re-education. Now the Woke Inquisition is feverishly eyeing yet another zone of British society for one of its joyless crackdowns, this time laying down its...

"The phrase Japanese First was meant to express rebuilding Japanese people's livelihoods by resisting globalism," said Sohei Kamiya, the leader of Japan's Sanseito party. The fringe far-right Sanseito party emerged as one of the biggest winners in Japan's Upper House election on Sunday (Jul 20), gaining support with warnings of a "silent invasion" of immigrants, and pledges for tax cuts and welfare spending. Birthed on YouTube during the COVID-19 pandemic spreading conspiracy theories about vaccinations and a cabal of global elites, the party broke into mainstream politics with its "Japanese First" campaign. The party won 14 seats, adding to the single...

At least two vessels loaded with Russian oil bound for refiners in India have diverted to other destinations following new U.S. sanctions, trade sources said, and LSEG trade flows showed. The U.S. Treasury Department this week imposed sanctions on more than 115 Iran-linked individuals, entities, and ships, some of which are involved in transporting Russian oil. U.S. President Donald Trump has urged countries to halt purchases of oil from Moscow, threatening 100% tariffs unless Russia agrees to a significant peace deal with Ukraine. Three ships - the Aframaxes Tagor and Guanyin and the Suezmax Tassos - were scheduled to deliver...

@RepThomasMassie Three billionaires from New York City and Las Vegas have funded a superPAC deceptively named Kentucky MAGA to run millions of dollars of negative ads against me because I vote against foreign aid for Israel and needless wars in the Middle East. Kentuckians aren’t falling for it.

Tourism troubles for Las Vegas continued in June, with estimates showing the number of visitors down 11.3% compared to June of last year, reports released on Wednesday showed. The trend deepened in June with lower convention attendance adding to the problem. Last month, higher convention attendance (+10.7%) helped cover some of the dip in Las Vegas visitors. But that didn’t happen in June, which had a 10.7% decline in convention attendance compared to June 2024. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority’s June report showed an estimated 3,094,800 people came to the city, down from 3,490,061 in June 2024. A...

US President Donald Trump on Saturday said that he had heard that India might no longer buy oil from Russia, though he acknowledged he was not certain about the claim. "I understand that India is no longer going to be buying oil from Russia. That's what I heard, I don't know if that's right or not. That is a good step. We will see what happens," Trump told ANI. Trump's remarks come days after his tirade against India for buying Russian oil and the White House's decision to levy 25 per cent tariffs on all exports to America and an...

Donald Trump announced that he had ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines towards Russia in response to threats from the country’s former president. The US president said he was sending the vessels to “appropriate regions” in a move that broke decades of Pentagon secrecy around high-level deployments. It comes after Mr Trump was engaged in a war of words with Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president and the deputy chairman of the country’s security council.

There’s never been any real love lost between Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and now we’ve got new dirt dropping. According to political insider Mark Halperin, Biden’s inner circle is sitting on a stash of damaging intel about Harris, ready to deploy if she even thinks about turning on her former boss. During Friday’s edition of his “Morning Meeting” newsletter on his 2WAY platform, Halperin dropped a not-so-subtle warning: if Harris ever turns on Biden, the former autopen president’s handlers are ready to unleash a barrage of “embarrassing” information to put her in her place. ... if Joe Biden feels...

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced it will be shutting down operations after Congress pulled its funding at the direction of President Donald Trump. In a press release Friday, the CPB said it would begin "an orderly wind-down of its operations following the passage of a federal rescissions package" last month. "For nearly 60 years, CPB has carried out its Congressional mission to build and sustain a trusted public media system that informs, educates, and serves communities across the country," CPB said in its statement. "Through partnerships with local stations and producers, CPB has supported educational content, locally relevant...

UPDATE: A 36-year-old woman is being held on felony stalking charges in a bizarre case where a wedding was held without the groom present and without his knowledge. Beverly Hills Police Chief Kory Martin expressed he’s never seen anything like this. “I was here Friday evening when this came in. When I was talking to the lieutenant, I said, ‘I don’t I don’t think in 23 years I’ve ever heard of anybody who managed somehow to get married to someone who wasn’t present for a ceremony.'” “At first, we were really considering that it may be some forged documents. However,...

President Trump is increasingly directing his frustrations at specific Senate Republicans, including turning his fire on key allies in recent days. The president this week publicly excoriated Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) over upholding the “blue slip” tradition and pushing a congressional stock trading ban, respectively. While Trump has long had a tendency of airing his grievances out in public — especially toward those he views as disloyal — the latest barbs about staunch backers are raising eyebrows and drawing questions about whether the strategy will continue to be effective in advancing his agenda. “I don’t think...

A massive homeless encampment in LA was just cleared out, however the timing of this ‘outreach’ effort is a bit suspect… as it follows an executive order from the president aimed to curb nationwide homelessness. More show notes: One camp was in VanNuys, the one that caught on fire last November. Mayor Karen Bass making an ass of herself over the situation. ICE was making arrests. Protesters were protesting the city tearing down the homeless camp.

A piece of silver associated with pirate folklore has been extracted from a dig site in a quiet Australian town. Prospector Angus James was searching for treasure in Stawell, 237km northwest of Melbourne, when he found half a Mexican 8 reales coin. “I first thought it might have been a half crown, but then I thought why is it cut in half? I was looking for the other half and couldn’t find it, so I took it home and washed it clean,” he told Yahoo News. Mexican 8 reales were linked to the term “pieces of eight” because they were...

It presents her legacy as a writer, illustrator, pacifist and queer artist, alongside illustrations, archival materials and immersive events. It will remain open until 30 September. A social media account affiliated with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency published a pointed critique Friday of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accusing him of being unfit to govern due to alleged substance abuse and detachment from public needs. “How can a leader lead when they sleep half the day and spend the other half high on substances?” read the post in Farsi from the @MossadSpokesman account on X, formerly Twitter. It ended with a charged refrain: “Water, electricity, life!” The post, which was automatically translated from its original Farsi, did not name Khamenei directly but was widely interpreted as...
