Didn't you get the "memo"? Oh, maybe you were left out of the loop.

Time to turn out the lights. The party's over.

Our evil conspiracy has succeeded beyond our wildest dreams! (Insert evil maniacal laughter here...)

Actually, there is no debate on the RC forum either.

Knowledgeable posters like sitetest and patent have all but vanished from FR, and these two were major proponents of the NO.

The RC forum now consists of the far right: schismatics, integrists, ultra-traditionalists, and even the odd sedevacantist.

There is NO advocacy for the Novus Ordo, and the rare poster who attempts a defense is slapped down by having his faith questioned or is called a "modernist."

So, drstevej, the religion forum is now the Traditionalist Forum, and those few RCs who remain on it will shortly be talking to themselves.

I have not seen anything recently that warrants posting and "discussion." I, for one, have been very busy studying for the three Bible classes I teach each week. I enjoy reading, and occasionally responding, but beyond that I really have a lot of other things to do.

I'm as amazed as anyone here at what's become of the Religion Forum.

Especially because my fellow integrists don't want anything more than a place to discuss what's become of our Church without being automatically dismissed as reactionary lunatics. We don't have too many places like that in our own Church.

We didn't set out to drive anybody else off the forum, yet it seems that's exactly what happened.

On the other hand, I do feel a little sinful schadenfreude at hearing some of the more liberal Catholics complaining that they don't have a voice here, no one listens to them anymore, and they're always being insulted, patronized and having their faith questioned.

Now they have some sense of what it's been like for us all this time in the Church.

Now the transformation to a Catholic Religion Forum is almost complete. Must be a Marian miracle

Prophetic.

I figured it was pretty much a catholic conservative website. I guess it is, but they don't flaunt it on the political forum.

This thread is a good example of why I'm not around much any more. (I only check in every couple weeks or so.) It's not so much the RC/Prot thing. Out of 81 posts, the thread has maybe 5 or 6 that are trying to intelligently talk about the initial article. I'm sick of wading through the garbage.

All might enjoy this little quote:

The highest degree of meekness consists in seeing, serving,
honoring, and treating amiably, on occasion, those who are not to
our taste, and who show themselves unfriendly, ungrateful, and
troublesome to us. - St. Francis de Sales

(This just popped up in something I post in the Daily Readings thread!!!!!!)

Pope Piel I (thinking of abdicating prior to even assuming the Chair of Peter)

As heiress to the papal throne under Piel, don't even think about it. I have plans.

*ahem*

Seriously, anyone is free to post anything they want on the religion forum. This doesn't appear to be a problem on the news forum so if people are unhappy with the threads they are more than welcome to change that. I don't like blaming other people for a few people's personal gripes (speaking in general here, not to anyone specifically). It's a victim mentality. If the N.O.s or Protestants aren't around then that is their problem to solve! No traditionalist censors this forum.

I haven't become involved in any heavy discussions lately because of personal restrictions. I've seen plenty of things to comment on, even the Protestant threads;-)

Interesting thread, the dwindling dialogue on religious threads should be a concern to all posters who are seeking to learn, convince, debate and/or inform others on matters concerning religion.

I am a Catholic,in union with the Pope and Magisterium,as defined by Tradition and grounded in Scripture.I have not attended the Tridentine mass in my diocese because the bishop has not permitted it and the Pope gives him the authority to allow or not to allow it.

I have taken issue with Sinkspur many times when he drops a line that has come to be accepted as if it were a "truth" or a "fact" but is not. In April,I said "Sinkspur says he is Catholic but he is not;he lies."

I thought it might kick off an interesting conversation on what it means to be Catholic and why it is wrong to claim to be what one cannot be,given the definition.I have been trying to connect it with the Letters to the Churches in Revelations:chaps:2 and 3.

This is what Sinkspur, who so bemoans the lack of Catholic posters who support the NO mass, and the rest of the post-Vatican worldview, posted to me on April 24,2003. "Your gibberish and mindless meanderings may impress some on this forum but they are at bottom your attempt to appear informed when you are clueless.-------You are a very good woman, but you are in over your head in theology and politics."

This was just the last in a series of like remarks,of course,I was so happy he called me a "good woman". I am sure that remark was to demonstrate the charity and compassion and pastoral care that he and his ilk are so proud they possess. Actually, the fact that I even post anymore probably proves his point,I guess,I am just too stupid and thick headed to know how clueless I am.

Yeah FR religion forum seems to be dominated by catholics but I like to post a John MacArthur column every now and then just to annoy everyone. LOL!

Participating bears so little fruit.

The theology discussed is not worth the invective (from all sides) that must be endured - little of it honors Christ, much of it probably dismays Him.

It's not what is said, but how it is said. One can disagree sarcastically and even vehemently and yet civilly, but the cheap shot is often the first shot, the goal becomes not understanding and communication but "scoring points" for one's position - in the worst extremes it becomes a bloodsport and a 'group think' seems to take over. This carries from thread to thread.

There seems an 'us' vs 'them' dynamic that precludes congenial participation by non-RC's on 'RC threads'; or Calvinists vs Arminians; Amillenialists v Preterists v Millennialists; or KJV-only v NIV/NASB/etc v 'Church Fathers & Tradition', ad nauseum.

I think the disagreement can be elucidating, but the invective one must wade thru inclines one to pick one's threads most carefully.

And moderators attempting to arbitrate truth doesn't help. They should pull posts & posters soley for violating stated guidelines (obscenity, threats, lack of civility or etiquette) none of which includes competently disproving (with publicly verifiable facts) someone elses position or beliefs, no matter how deeply held. If they're unsure, just move the thread to the smokey backroom. It's ok to belong to the flat earth society and post on FR, but being shown a globe does not constitute abuse.

I won't read through the whole thread, so I am probably repeating another's observation, that the Protestant's have gone nowhere; they are masquerading as Catholics.
