Thread from last month...

Where Have All the FR Protestants Gone?
drstevej

Posted on 04/08/2003 12:29 PM CDT by drstevej

OBSERVATIONS:

[1] There seems to be a significantly reduced number of Protestant Threads (KJV Only being the exception for sure) in the FR Religion Forum.

[2] There seems to be a reduced number of FR Protestant posts in the Religion Forum.

This thread is a place to discuss these observations.

------------

Now the transformation to a Catholic Religion Forum is almost complete. Must be a Marian miracle or an answer to Jim Robinson's prayer, "Can't we all just get along?" Now all the dissent is within the RC fold ... NO Mass vs. Tridentine Mass. Boredom has descended, the moderators are free to nap without fear of an **** awakening them.

Could someone arrange for a funeral mass? (a clown mass in this case might be in order).

-- Pope Piel  I (thinking of abdicating prior to even assuming the Chair of Peter)

Hey, I will gladly defer to rdb3 but I don't think you're gonna like it! You'll be beggin' for Pope Piel.

But you'd better hurry, because this offer is only good while supplies last. Operators are standing by!

Ultima ratio and his crowd have been so successful that there are actually Catholics on this board who would attend a schismatic SSPX mass over a Novus Ordo mass.

Not true. I wouldn't. I've only made a couple commments that could be seen as pro-Tridentine, and really all I said was that the Tridentine should be made available.

***I happen to like the Novus Ordo.***

Guess that makes you a Protestant from what I read on these threads. Welcome to the Errant Brotherhood.

That's right, Steve! This deluxe Tupperwear Bible cover is complete with Matthew 24:35 embossed right on the lid. Comes in your choice of day-glo orange or green. Only available to the first 100 callers. Shipping and handling charges may apply. Offer void in some states.

**Sometimes I feel as out of place here as if I were posting on DU.**

This is sad; we need not feel so ostracized. I guess we can only ask if we have contributed to this problem.

And I think your analysis is correct. There are those who post and stay above the "mud-wrestling" pool of NO vs. Traditional Latin Rite.

This thread is a good example of why I'm not around much any more. (I only check in every couple weeks or so.) It's not so much the RC/Prot thing. Out of 81 posts, the thread has maybe 5 or 6 that are trying to intelligently talk about the initial article. I'm sick of wading through the garbage.

All might enjoy this little quote:

The highest degree of meekness consists in seeing, serving,
honoring, and treating amiably, on occasion, those who are not to
our taste, and who show themselves unfriendly, ungrateful, and
troublesome to us. - St. Francis de Sales

(This just popped up in something I post in the Daily Readings thread!!!!!!)

It often surprises me that you like the NCReporter, because although you are not conservative liturgically, politcally you are. And the NCReporter is way to the left. And many of them seem to think politics is the only important part of religion.

Also you should not that NCReporter-types are not pro-N.O. They take advantage of certain characteristics of the N.O. to create a Mass that is not a Novus Ordo Mass, even if no one calls them on it. If you look at it objectively, these people are much more anti-N.O. then any traditionalist.

I read the Reporter for John Allen's columns, for some news (they are VERY good on the clerical abuse situation), and some interviews.

Is favoring the Novus Ordo "not conservative liturgically"? I thought following a liturgy approved by the Church was conservative.

You're a prime example of the destruction of civil discourse on this forum.
