Is Revelation Difficult To Understand… Or Difficult To Believe?
Harbingers Daily ^ | 4/9/24 | Tim Moore

Some people have a hard time accepting reality. Some things simply sound “too good to be true.” That could be said of Jesus’ promises to those who accept Him: absolute forgiveness and eternal life in the presence of God.

On the other hand, some people cannot accept the clear teaching of Scripture regarding the wrath of God that abides on all who do not obey the Son by accepting Him as Savior and Lord (John 3:36). They like the sound of a god who would not harm a fly but cannot accept the living God who will pour out His righteous indignation on a world that has rejected Him. They are even more appalled by the idea of Jesus, the Lamb who was slain, administering the wrath of God. Yet that is exactly what Revelation teaches (6:16).

It has been said that Revelation is too hard to understand. But Henry Morris, the founder of the Institute for Creation Research, once said: “Revelation is not hard to understand. It is hard to believe; but if you will believe it, you will understand it.”

It is critical that we understand up front that this final book in the canon of God’s Word is not merely the fanciful and imaginative vision of John the Apostle. The very first verse in the book establishes that it is “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.”

The same verse goes on to explain the purpose behind Jesus unveiling all that John would be tasked to record: “…which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John.” Driving the point home even further, verse 2 tells us that John “testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.”

Other prophets of God affirm the divine inspiration to their prophecies by frequently weaving in the phrase, “Thus saith the Lord.” But John established up front that Revelation is the testimony of none other than Jesus Christ.

Revelation is unique in one other respect. No other book offers a promise of blessing for merely reading what is written. But verse 3 says, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.” Not clear enough? Jesus repeats the same promise in 22:7: “And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book.”

Reading and hearing can be easily done. But how do you heed a book of prophecy—especially one as expansive as Revelation? How can I heed the sweeping prophecies yet to be fulfilled and often related to God’s wrath that abides on the unbelieving world? By doing what Henry Morris advocated and believing this great book of prophecy.

In other words—taking Jesus at His Word.

——>Once a person is saved by Christ they do not lose their salvation. That you can take to the bank.

The standard in the JUDGMMENT is God’s moral law. Absolutely clear from scripture. FOR GOD IS NO RESPECTOR OF PERSONS. FR church doctors say God’s law doesn’t apply to them and they will not be judged by it, for they are already judged at the moment of grace.

“To be righteous means to act in accord with divine or moral law. It is the opposite of being guilty or sinful. A righteous person is someone who follows or does what is right, according to a moral standard or a religious authority. Righteousness is the state or condition of being moral, upright, just, or virtuous.”

1 Peter 4:17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Romans 2: 11For there is no respect of persons with God. 12For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. 14For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) 16In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Revelation 11:19And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Seems to me revelation at Sinai to millions— who experienced it and believed it (they knew it, seeing is believing,)— is better proof.
.....

They experienced it about 60 days after Passover, then was left alone for 40 days, without Moses, and failed miserably and ended up with the death of about 3,000..

They didn’t believe the spies and had to wander for 40 years in the wilderness.. and most died in the wilderness..

Amazing that so many actually experienced, and believed it, then failed to keep the experience or the faith..

Wayside, rocky and thorny was an experience for Israel way before New Covenant Church was introduced to it in a Parable..

It does say the mark will be in your forehead or in your hand. that tells me it’s some sort of microchip or something.

Exodus 13

9This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that this law of the Lord is to be on your lips. For the Lord brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand. 10You must keep this ordinance at the appointed time year after year.

16And it will be like a sign on your hand and a symbol on your forehead that the Lord brought us out of Egypt with his mighty hand.”

Absolutely!
And that is backed up by Scripture time and time again.

Don’t argue with the mockers and scoffers who like to play jump rope with their “obedience” (AS IF?).

See you in the clouds!

I think that is accurate, though nowadays a lot of protestants are preterist as well.

Commandment KEEPERS will be in heaven. Those who do and teach commandment BREAKING, will not. If you say you are a Christian, you will keep God’s commandments. God calls those CHRISTIANS that don’t, LIARS. Simple as that.

Revelation 14:11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Matthew 7:21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS!’

The key to unlock Revelation is to look at what John was told to write. The things which were and are, are covered in the first 3 chapters, the things which shall be start at chapter 4 verses 1 (which sounds like a description of the Rapture and to back that up, note the church is not mentioned again).

Chapter 5 is the best, marvelous view of heaven, before the judgment. Praise, endless praise of our Savior Jesus Christ

The there the verse 14:6

6#Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to all those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. 7#And he said with a loud voice, m “Fear God and n give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and o worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea

There will no one with an excuse all will have the choice to believe or not believe.

Just FYI for those who are unfamiliar with the above Dispensationalist (earthly millennium, rapture-at-any-moment) interpretation of Scripture regarding the End Times presented here: the majority of Christians today (and who have ever lived, for that matter) do not ascribe to it. It was not developed until the early 19th century. It originated in England but is mostly held by many (not all) American evangelicals.

Generally correct;
When did the Guadalupe and Fatima interpretations begin ?

These apparitions (and others) are private revelation and are not part of the deposit of Faith and General Revelation which consists of Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture, and the constant teaching of the Church. Christians are free to either give credence to them or not.

Church teaching about the "Last Things" has been consistent since apostolic times in accord with the Scriptures.

Concur
There is definitely a “rapture” in both the Old and New Testament scriptures and it is … complicated because one has the righteous being raptured and the other, the wicked; angels everywhere praise God! Maranatha, may we be found worthy and working when Messiah comes.

Man!
BINGO!

1000%

I love Revelation 3:10

10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

“I will keep you FROM the hour of trial”.

Here’s another nugget.
The term “Earth Dwellers” is used 11 times in Revelation.
(3:10; 6:10; 8:13; 11:10 2xs; 13:8, 12, 14 2xs; 14:6; 17:8)

“Earth Dwellers” refers to the persistent unbelievers during the Tribulation.

Dr. Thomas Ice breaks this down in a relatively short essay.

Thanks again for your post Brother!

That was for the church of Philidelphia. We are at the end, in the church of Laodicea. They WERE kept from the hour of temptation, BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL DEAD, waiting in the grave for the resurrection. You and Tommy are wrong. Everyone who’s alive at the end is going through the Tribulation. They are also going to have to make the Mark of the Beast choice, which most will take, because it has to do with the 7th-day-Sabbath, God’s law, which almost all of Christianity hates. They also hate the people warning them about it.

It will be a sad day for those who hate God’s law.

If Scripture can be read “plainly” and is for all people, why did it take eighteen hundred years for someone to figure out what it really means? In this claim dispensationalists resemble the Mormons, who believe that the truth was lost for eighteen centuries.

You really don't want to use this line of reasoning. It'll wipe out the Marian dogmas of Roman Catholicism....and the papacy and a whole bunch of other Roman Catholic dogma.

But you see the difference is this. Belief in the Rapture is not dogmatic...it's not an issue of salvation.

However, for the Roman Catholic, the Maria dogmas are issues of salvation. Roman Catholics have to believe these....they have no choice.

Of course it is. Dispensationalists believe they will be raptured before the Mark of the Beast and Antichrist appearance (even though the Antichrist has been on earth going strong since it received power to persecute in 538 AD). The Rapture won’t happen, the mark of the beast issue will arrive, and they won’t have a clue. They will be fooled and receive the mark. They will still blindly be waiting for the Rapture, that will never come. And they certainly will never keep the 7th-day-Sabbath, which they hate. They will not be in heaven.

We are warned multiple times throughout the bible to not be deceived. Dispensationalist are already deceived. Not much chance they will accept the truth.
