Celebration of the Latin Mass now career-ending

The Under-Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith becomes a parish priest in the mountains of the Diocese of Parma. An leading office holder has to resign immediately after a hint from the Apostolic Nunciature in the USA. Purges take place again at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome.

They are making examples of the the more high profile folks. But guess what? Traditional Catholics are used to being abused and treated with contempt by the radicals who have been dismembering the Church for the past five decades. This is typical behavior from them. Emphasize mercy, but practice harsh punishment. But God has numbered the days of the elderly 1960s radicals and their reign of terror will be over soon.

But aren’t they likely to just be replaced by new clergy who think the exact same way (or worse)?

Yes, but the octogenarian and nonagenarian radicals seem to have recruited of younger “queering the Church” radicals as the next-generation Church leadership (I’m talking about the Martins and Stowes of the world). We used to assume that the battle would dissipate when the last of the Vatican II generation left the scene, but I’m afraid that a different, no less challenging battle will fill the vacuum.

This is the natural result of assigning to tradition the same authority as they do to scripture.

The Pope says what is tradition; therefore the Pope’s authority is elevated to that of scripture.

Thanks for playing, but that's not really how it works.

By the way, are the (Sola scriptura) Presbyterians right about infant baptism, or are the (Sola scriptura) Baptists right about infant baptism? If sola scriptura works, how can it provide contradictory answers to the same question?

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Frankie is trying to stack the deck with voting cardinals of his choice. But all of the growth and energy in the Church is coming from TLM Catholics.

So I remain hopeful that the next Pope will be orthodox.

No doubt they will try. But the facts remain as follows: younger clergy are much more traditional than the generation passing away. The Church is a gigantic organization and any attempts by the "queer" birds at the Vatican to exercise dictatorial control will ultimately fail from sheer lack of will and manpower.

Plus, do not discount the notion that the best laid plans of evildoers always, always, always come to naught, particularly as regards Holy Mother Church.

Neither Presbyterians nor Baptists claim that Church tradition is equal to Scripture. Ultimately, one or the other is wrong in their interpretation of that doctrinal question.

Scripture does not provide contradictory answers. As a Catholic (I presume) you know this. Fallible men and their traditions do. In other words, Scripture is inerrant; men, Pastors, Priests and Popes are not.

Traditions that the Apostles taught: authoritative
Everything else: not authoritative

Why is this Pope repressing the Latin Mass?
