Good question.   (I bet he's not staying six feet away from that guy, "Reggie Love", or other fellows, in B.O.'s new, gigantic mansion!)

Ole lying Ken is on his way to hell if he doesn’t repent his lying ways. He is in it for the $$$$. That isn’t going to go over well for him and his other thieves stealing from God. There is a very special place in hell for those who are misleading the flock to hell. I hope these people who listen to these charlatans get a clue.

“Kenneth Copeland has gotten very rich...”

Solomon. Joseph. Abraham. Isaac. Job. David.

Deuteronomy 8:18
“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for [it is] he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as [it is] this day”.

Malachi 3:10
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].”

3 John 1:2
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

2 Corinthians 8:9
“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

Luke 6:38
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Deuteronomy 28:2-13
“2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

3 Blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the city, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the field.

4 Blessed [shall be] the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

5 Blessed [shall be] thy basket and thy store.

6 Blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou comest in, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou goest out.

7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.

8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.

10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.

11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do [them]”

So, God/Jesus believe prosperity and riches are a blessing. NOWHERE and at no time does God or Jesus promise poverty or sickness as anything approaching a blessing.

Unless you can show one.

I’m not saying everything Copeland says is perfect, or even correct. But you cannot condemn someone because they are rich...even people of God because they are rich. ESPECIALLY when God says that riches are a sign of one’s obedience/relationship to Him.

I think you’ll embarrass yourself, and then hopefully, humble yourself, by studying what God thinks about riches vs. poverty.

Once you’ve done that and understand that God sees riches and plenty as blessings and poverty/lack as a curse, you might wonder if your lack of them is connected to God’s blessing/withholding. You might wonder what it is you’re missing.

Then you might begin to search out what is broken. It’s either God or you.

But...you might quit blaming people who are rich and teaching a way they believe you can get in line with God’s provisions and start trying to listen to what they’re saying.

But, whatever.

Tithing is not a gospel ordnance.....

Neither is preaching the gospel for a salary. It is not a trade...... and only the worst scumbags profit financially from the death of Christ....Same goes for youth ministers, choir directors, organists, and any other extra-biblical hireling.....

Not surprised at all by men of this stripe......

Tithing is an ordinance in the Torah to support the Levitical Priesthood. It is specifically one tenth of the harvest. The priests didn’t have an inheritance of Land, and so the Tithe (again, one tenth) was for their support.

Anyone who would demand a tithe from someone who has nothing to live on is in direct violation of the spirit of the Torah. For example, a lender could not take an upper millstone as collateral, as it would leave the borrower with nothing to grind his grain. Nor was he to keep a cloak overnight, as the borrower would have nothing to sleep in. The Tithe was a tenth of what you had, not what you had not.

The “money bag” of which you speak was for contributions and donations, which supported the ministry, but was never designated as a “Tenth”. There is also a hint that some of this money went to help the poor among them.

Modern-Day Preachers often use the Book of Malachi to justify demanding a tenth of a member’s income as a “Tithe”, and “Offerings” on top of that. However, Malachi is a Post-Exile “Old Testament” Prophet. (I put “Old Testament” in quotes, because I usually refer to that wonderful Book as the Hebrew Scriptures.)

There is never a demand for One Tenth as a requirement, either in the Gospels, the book of Acts, or any of the Pastoral Epistles. People are encouraged to give liberally, of course, but from the heart. And whatever you do, don’t brag or lie about it ...Ananias and his wife Sapphira found out that in a hurry (Acts 5).

The Gospels also hint that the Apostle’s families, especially the Ladies, helped out with cooking and feeding the Disciples. And then...there was that little matter of the Loaves and the Fishes. After that particular incident, Jesus rebuked the disciples for worrying about BREAD.

It’s all in the terminology.

“Tithe” means a mandatory Tenth

“Offerings” are what one is inclined to give to support a ministry.

The Lord loves a “Cheerful Giver”, but layin’ down the law about tithing isn’t very cheerful. As a matter of fact, I have experienced believers who cheerfully give much more than a tenth when it is not demanded of them.

And...10% of Zero is still Zero.

The Melchizedek priesthood showed the precedent in Abraham and Melchizedek themselves with respect to this issue.

And yes, ten percent of zero is indeed zero. Jesus would hold up the widow donating the two lepta as an example of what those who preach in His name should never, ever demand, in addition.

Absolutely. Melchizedek was also referenced in the Book of Hebrews for this very thing.

I think we are actually in agreement about these things. The widow’s mite is a perfect example of “giving from the heart” for she gave all she had to live on. She must have believed that God would take care of her so she did it, not from compulsion, but out of love.

Since I too am a “older” widow, and really broke, as my pension just got swallowed up by the stock market, and all my students cancelled on me. I seriously have nothing left.

Oh well. It’s time to trust in the Lord. Actually, it’s always time to trust in the Lord.

Biblically speaking, few Hebrews tithed. A tithe was never money. It was what your grew or raised. If you didn’t grow anything you didn’t tithe.

Another heavy emphasis of Jesus and His early church is on caring for widows, particularly in 1 Timothy 5:3-16.
