De Mattei: Pope Francis and his Lutheran turning point
>>In short, every Catholic is called upon to choose whether to side with Pope Francis and the Jesuits of today, or be alongside the Jesuits of yesterday and the Popes of all time.
They could ask Jesus’ mom what she thinks.
I’ll stick with Scripture.
Are you sure?
Serious question: why did Francis go to Sweden to commemorate a German monk? Seemed off at the time, still does.
Almost like he's calling for a schism.
I side with 2,000 years of the Church, all of the saints, and the popes up until Francis.
Are the following in your "scripture", or did Luther excise them also, from his"book"?
"[25] But there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, if they were written every one, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written." [John 21:25]
[26] But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you." [John 14:26]
Or how about this?
"[8] But you shall receive the power of the Holy Ghost coming upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the uttermost part of the earth." [Acts Of Apostles 1:8]

>>Twenty One Reasons to Reject Sola Scriptura
Absolutely. The Roman Church has proven itself to be unreliable as the final decider of what is true. If I was going to believe those 21 reasons, I’d follow the Eastern Church before I’d follow Rome because it is closer to the original church in teachings and worship.
But, the Roman Church is a church like any other. It has a basis in Scripture, so I’m not going to pile on and call it antiChrist or anything. But, since the Gospel was released to the people in the 15-16th century, it has just become one church among many who all follow the same Christ. But most of the others rely solely upon Him, while you have your Pope.
So why haven't you joined the Eastern Church if you believe it to be closer to the "original" church. What church is yours and how "original" is it?.
How so? Where are your "proofs"?
Secondly what "church" is the real "decider of what it true"?
Of course they are in the Bible that protestants use. However, nothing the Holy Spirit teaches can ever contradict Scripture, as they come from the same source. So if anyone attempts to appeal to the Holy Spirit as the source of a doctrine that contradicts Scripture, then they are obviously mistaken or deceived somehow.
Also, what the Holy Spirit teaches is an individual experience, so it can be disputed by others who may not have experienced it the same way, but Scripture is held by all, so there can’t be any dispute as to what it says. That’s why Scripture is the final authority as to doctrine, since we all have the same Scripture to appeal to.
Nothing the Catholic Church teaches contradicts Holy Scripture.
Also, what the Holy Spirit teaches is an individual experience, ...
Pure hogwash. The apostles were in a closed room when then the Holy Ghost descended upon them. And they never split from each other in their own different "religions".
The Holy Ghost did not descend upon those outside the room. It was a select few. I was not there, you weren't there and Luther wasn't there.
If the Pope is so Lutheran, then would you refuse to recant to his face and take excommunication from him instead of giving up the Catholic faith you love so much?
This thread is devolving into immature slander and topics that got the banhammer in earlier threads.
Abuse reported.
So if you were called before Francis and threatened with excommunication if you didn’t recant everything you said about him on FR, what would you do?
Never would have imagined this chaos in the Church would come in my lifetime. Prayers up for Holy Mother Church.
Unlike Bergoglio, I would never give up the Catholic Faith.
Have you heard of the Catholic martyrs?
Respect for that.
And would you still take Communion and worship then?
Because in the eyes of Catholics who still follow Francis, you’d be guilty of starting your own religion by defiance to the Pope and the Church Magusterium.
Bwahahaha!
You also need to read Scripture about Pentecost. Nothing says it was a closed room. The apostles were part of a group of 120 who were meeting in the house and the entire house was filled and ALL the people there were baptized in with the Holy Spirit and they all began to speak in tongues. That includes the mother of Jesus.
Imagine that. Mary spoke in tongues.....
By what authority do you reject the pope that the college of cardinals elected?
Did the Holy Spirit guide them in that selection or not?
