The forgiveness of Sins
Catholic.com ^ | Catholic Answers

All pardon for sins ultimately comes from Christ’s finished work on Calvary, but how is this pardon received by individuals? Did Christ leave us any means within the Church to take away sin? The Bible says he gave us two means.

Then read and understand the teachings of the Catholic Church that are from God.

Even the Bible (NT) was written by Catholics based on the Words and teachings of Jesus. Jesus directed His followers go out Baptize and Spread the Good News to the World.

The Catholic Church has followed the instructions of Jesus for 2000 years with some ups and downs. And many heretics and self=professed followers.

And Jesus told us that He will always be with us and He gave us His Body and Blood.

If it is not the Truth, then it should be easy to prove the Catholic Church teachings from God as false, and you can’t. Just have your personal opinion and anti-Catholic feelings.

The Catholic Church claims it does not contradict the Words or teachings of God. There is no claim that there is a 100% agreement of the Early Church Fathers or even among Catholics today. In fact, there were some that were in error starting with Judas.

Why do you make false statements about the Catholic Church? Is it intentional or are you not familiar with the Church teachings?

Mary was not free from sin as believed by catholics in the immaculate conception.

Why?

She offered a sin offering after Christ was born per Luke 2:21-24. This would be in accordance with Lev 12:8.

But if she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, the one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean.’” (Lev 12:8 NASB)

If Mary was free from sin, why would she need the sin offering?

Is anxiety a sin? Many consider be anxious a sin. We see Mary admitting she was anxious over Jesus in Luke 2:48. Again, if she is sinless she cannot be anxious.

So here are two proofs from the Word you asked for on this topic.

Mary was not sinless, was not born sinless, she was a sinner just as you and I.

Likewise I accept Sacred Scripture according to that sense which Holy mother Church held and holds, since it is her right to judge of the true sense and interpretation of the Holy Scriptures; nor will I ever receive and interpret them except according to the unanimous consent of the fathers. http://www.ewtn.com/library/COUNCILS/V1.htm

There is no unanimous consent of the ECFs.

I didn’t see your earlier post. I apologize.

In all sincerity...if you study the ECFs you will see they are all over the issues....not only the Immaculate Conception but the papacy, Peter being the Rock, etc.

My response:

This does not prove that Mary had sinned.
Mary would do this a the custom of Jews of that day after birth of a child. This was considered unclean, but giving birth is not a sin.
Mary may not have been informed that she was free from sin (I do not know).
Mary may not want to disclose her special status (Again, I do not know).
Anxiety? All humans have anxiety. Why would that be a sin?

Nice try. But you are really stretching it!

This was not a custom! This was keeping in accordance with the Law. The Word calls it a sin offering. Plain and simple.

from the pulpit commentary....Two things are noticeable here: first, that the burnt offering, symbolizing self-devotion, is far more costly and important than the sin offering, which had not to be offered for any individual personal sin, but only for human sin, "which had been indirectly manifested in her bodily condition"

Mary may not have been informed that she was free from sin (I do not know).

Good grief.

Mary may not want to disclose her special status (Again, I do not know).

Good grief Anxiety? All humans have anxiety. Why would that be a sin?

Worry.

Nice try. But you are really stretching it!

I give you proof you asked for you ignore the facts....and you say I'm stretching it. You're ignoring it.

I am not ignoring it. I am disagreeing with your analysis and giving you an alternate reason why she did not sin.

I will defer to someone that has more knowledge.

Why would God allow His son be born to a woman that had the stain of original sin or actual sin? Reason says he wouldn’t.

Just like He spared her of the pain of child birth, he granted her a special status of not having sin, as she was humbly obedient to the God.

Just your fallible opinion.

So explain why you don’t believe the words of Jesus about the Real Presence (Human and Divine) to eat and drink His Body and Blood that He commanded us to do this in His memory?

If I could explain it to you, would you comprehend it or even accept it long enough to think about it? ... I’ve actually done this task here at FR, before.

Can a Catholic mind see a contradiction defined for them in plain Bible passages? Let's see:

Don't eat the blood, the life is in the blood

Genesis 9:4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life , that is, its blood.

Leviticus 3:17 It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, in all your dwelling places, that you eat neither fat nor blood. [Was Jesus in the generations of Mary?]

Leviticus 7:26-27 Moreover, you shall eat no blood whatever, whether of fowl or of animal, in any of your dwelling places. Whoever eats any blood, that person shall be cut off from his people.”

Leviticus 17:10-14 “If any one of the house of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life. [Why do Catholics not believe Jesus has atoned ONCE FOR ALL FOREVER, so they keep trying to get His blood into them for atonement?] Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood.

Deuteronomy 12:16 Only you shall not eat the blood ; you shall pour it out on the earth like water.

Deuteronomy 12:23 Only be sure that you do not eat the blood, for the blood is the life , and you shall not eat the life with the flesh.

Acts 15:12-29 And all the assembly fell silent, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul as they related what signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles. After they finished speaking, James replied, “Brothers, listen to me. Simeon has related how God first visited the Gentiles, to take from them a people for his name. And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written,
“‘After this I will return, and I will rebuild the tent of David that has fallen; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it, that the remnant of mankind may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord, who makes these things known from of old.’

Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God, but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood. For from ancient generations Moses has had in every city those who proclaim him, for he is read every Sabbath in the synagogues.”

Tradition is based on the Word of God, the oral teachings of Jesus and does not contradict the Bible.

Then it is NOT necessary!

The Catholic Church bases her teaching upon one source: The word of God.

Yeah...

A bit from here; an snippet from there and a chunk from that other place.
