There are many, many more Protestant denominations out there, not just those reflected in the links above. How many? Well, nobody really knows for sure exactly how many Protestant denominations exist at any given point in time, because after you get done counting the first forty or fifty thousand, several thousand more new ones pop up here and there all over the place, like popping pop corn! :-)
We Catholics love all our Protestant brothers and sisters (no matter how many denominations or "non-denominations" they belong to), and we simply want to share the fullness of the truth with them, so that they can find the precious jewel (the "pearl of great price") that we have already found (by the Grace of God). With that in mind, the following song is dedicated to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, and their ever-increasing number of distinct and ever-changing denominations with contradictory, mutually-exclusive, incompatible teachings. (And, no, that is not a bunch of cardinals singing that song!)
☺
(Song -- "Bless 'em All!")
(This song is a tribute to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, no matter what denomination -- or "non-denomination" -- they are currently in.)
"I appeal to you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment." (1 Corinthians 1:10)
BUMP
Jesus Christ is the rock, those who worship him are the church and only through him will they reach heaven.
So I guess that is the question.
Is your rock a church or Jesus Christ?
That kinda sums it up nicely.
This thread is not about the Religion Moderator and vladimir998.
Again, “If you think another poster is breaking the rules here, send me a freepmail with a link and appropriate action will be taken.”
Or any of the rest of us Prots; either.
It appears you just want to spout stuff and claim it's absolutely true.
I think you've mistaken this for a Catholic Caucus thread.
Scott Hahn was a preterist because he learned preterism as a Protestant. He has given up preterism in order to conform to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Like you, I thought he was a preterist room and one of the Catholics posted evidence that Hahn gave up preterism for Catholic theology.
Room => too
“It appears you just want to spout stuff and claim it’s absolutely true.”
When something is true, I label it as such. I have no problem calling the truth the truth and calling error error.
“I think you’ve mistaken this for a Catholic Caucus thread.”
No, I made no mistake. But you just did.
(CynicalBear) Ironic isn't it?
(now imardmd1) Hardly irenic, eh?
.
.
- 'scuse, couldn't let this go by . . . : ) -
“the Catholic Church - has been a mess since its inception.”
And not a Protestant in sight for more than 1400 years. As YOU stated the Catholic Church - my Church (you CATHOLICS) - was the original Church.
He simply went from one false teaching to another.
Assumption. Do you think Paul preached a different message to each assembly?
>>and, assuming that was the message, that their search was to determine if the Scriptures verified that Jesus is The Christ.<<
Assumption. Paul said they "searched the scriptures daily to see if "what he said was true".
It matters not what the message was. The point of the passage was that the Bereans were commended for checking with the known word of God to see if men were teaching correctly.
The underlying assumption being that an orgainized hierarchy was actually established which has been shown over and over is not so. Even if there had been the paganism of the Catholic Church would eliminate it from being that.
...can't even get SEVEN of it's own early churches to agree on ERROR!
And where's the thanks we get for FORCING you guys into coming up with the COUNTER Reformation??
