⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪
There are many, many more Protestant denominations out there, not just those reflected in the links above. How many? Well, nobody really knows for sure exactly how many Protestant denominations exist at any given point in time, because after you get done counting the first forty or fifty thousand, several thousand more new ones pop up here and there all over the place, like popping pop corn! :-)
We Catholics love all our Protestant brothers and sisters (no matter how many denominations or "non-denominations" they belong to), and we simply want to share the fullness of the truth with them, so that they can find the precious jewel (the "pearl of great price") that we have already found (by the Grace of God). With that in mind, the following song is dedicated to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, and their ever-increasing number of distinct and ever-changing denominations with contradictory, mutually-exclusive, incompatible teachings. (And, no, that is not a bunch of cardinals singing that song!)
☺
(Song -- "Bless 'em All!")
(This song is a tribute to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, no matter what denomination -- or "non-denomination" -- they are currently in.)
"I appeal to you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment." (1 Corinthians 1:10)
We have the Bible and pray to Jesus. I think Catholics have a lock on illogical beliefs. For some reason, they do not stick to those beliefs. Some are changed every few years. I will trust the Bible over anything an made up.
Ironic isn't it?
“We have the Bible and pray to Jesus.”
You have most of the bible and do not worship Jesus as you should.
“I think Catholics have a lock on illogical beliefs.”
We don’t have any illogical beliefs.
“For some reason, they do not stick to those beliefs.”
Protestants don’t stick to their beliefs. People are weak.
“Some are changed every few years.”
No beliefs are changed.
“I will trust the Bible over anything an made up.”
You can’t trust what you don’t have and you don’t have the Bible - only most of it. And what you do have you essentially falsify with your own man made beliefs which you impose on it.
“the Catholic Church - has been a mess since it’s inception.”
And you admitted that that inception was in the days of Christ and the Apostles.

I think it SHOWS how screwed up you CATHOLICS had it already!
And not a Protestant in sight for more than 1400 years. Thanks for admitting that the Catholic Church - my Church (you CATHOLICS) - was the original Church.

Amen!
We do have the Bible. I have done research and every site I went to said the books left out contradicted what Jesus said. Men made the mistake of trying to add to what Jesus said. I do not understand why one religion did that. Some people will believe anything but what the Bible says. They trust man instead of Jesus and that is wrong. Beliefs have changed. When I was in school, we had fish on Fridays for the 3 Catholic families who could not eat meat. Now, anything goes. I think this pope is trying to change beliefs . Just stick to what the Bible says. I believe the Bible not Catholics.

Which you admitted was in the days of Jesus and the Apostles:

“We do have the Bible.”
No, most of it.
“I have done research and every site I went to said the books left out contradicted what Jesus said.”
Then your research was poorly conducted. There is no contradiction between Jesus and the Deutercanonicals.
“Men made the mistake of trying to add to what Jesus said.”
No, that’s not what happened.
“I do not understand why one religion did that.”
Which one? All the historic Churches have the Deuterocanonicals.
“Some people will believe anything but what the Bible says.”
Except that you don’t have the Bible.
“They trust man instead of Jesus and that is wrong.”
Except the Bible is the Bible even if you deny it.
“Beliefs have changed.”
No, they have not.
“When I was in school, we had fish on Fridays for the 3 Catholic families who could not eat meat. Now, anything goes.”
False. 1) That’s a practice not a belief. 2) Fridays - all Fridays - are still officially meatless days. The only way to eat meat is to do another penance. Most Catholics simply don’t know that.
“I think this pope is trying to change beliefs .”
Your personal opinion about what the pope might do does not substantiate your false claims about beliefs having been changed.
“Just stick to what the Bible says.”
We do. You don’t even have the Bible.
“I believe the Bible not Catholics.”
Apparently you believe neither.
I am curious. According to Romanist tradition,to whom did Peter give his keys? and who was next after that one?
(This is not contentious or mocking, just a plain inquiry.)
Discuss the issues all you want, but don’t it personal.
“Mind reading” is making it personal, which makes the thread about another individual instead of the topic of the thread.
“You dont even have the Bible.”
“Which you admitted...”
“...you essentially falsify...”
“You have most of the bible and do not worship Jesus as you should.”
Also,, stop posting the same cut and past comment over and over, that is badgering.
I'm sorry, I don't follow you here. Would you please quote what I said that you are taking as an assumption. I can't respond until you disclose what you are talking about. Thanks.
In the FR religion forum, Bias isn’t just a dead basketball player.
There was no earthly universal "catholic" "Church" (as a proper noun used today) at the beginning of the Age of Grace. There were only autonomous local immersionist churches, all loyal to Jesus and His Gospel, but led only by local spiritual men serving the office of elders, whose next and only intermediate with The Father was The Risen Anointed Jesus, who obediently offered His Shed Blood at the Heavenly Mercy Seat as the paid price for all sin and sins, thus purchasing reconciliation of humans to The God and Father of Jesus.
This idea of forming an extra-biblical supra-local administrative power over local churches that went along with it, to form a denomination that excluded protesters who rejected such an unscriptural accumulation of political power, came much later. And it has never conquered the remnant of true regenerated spirit-led followers of Jesus in any age since. So please stop insisting that Jesus founded the Roman Catholic Church or any other catholic curch, or even any other supra-local denomination, please? It is repugnant to those constituents of independent local autonomous Christ-ordained immersionist assemblies whose authority is vested in strong Biblical preaching, teaching of disciples by spiritually mature men, and firm church discipline agreed on by the local congregants.

I don't know. I know holy tradition teaches both the Apostles Peter and Paul were martyred in Rome. I know scripture shows Peter defining who was eligible to be an apostolic replacement for Judas. Scripture shows Peter accepting Paul, Paul choosing bishops, and having his bishops choose other bishops so I see apostolic succession in scripture. For what I don't know, I go here: The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
I'm still with the Jewish apostles here wishing the LORD had restored the kingdom to Israel and avoided all the religious wars of the Gentiles. I believe in one holy catholic apostolic church built upon the foundation of the Jewish prophets and apostles, Messiah Jesus being the chief cornerstone. I believe the Virgin of Israel, Miriam, was incredibly brave and full of grace and love. This is the family I want to be in. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
No one on this forum has given a credible alternative for the holy catholic apostolic church. In fact, very few nonCatholics are willing to publicly disclose the denomination, sect, or fellowship where they assemble, if they do assemble regularly as apostolically directed in the scriptures. Further, I've witnessed women try to teach me doctrine, as if they had never heard the Apostle to the Gentiles teach them otherwise.
Keep poking the dog...
Where DO your exalted leaders ever come UP with this stuff???
Is Peter the 'rock'?
As you can see, Simon was already known as 'Peter'
BEFORE the following verses came along.....
NIV 1 Corinthians 10:4
and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. NIV Luke 6:48
He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. NIV Romans 9:33
As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." NIV 1 Peter 2:4-8
4. As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-- 5. you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6. For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 7. Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone, " 8. and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message--which is also what they were destined for. But, since there WAS no NT at the time Christ spoke to Peter, just what DID Peter and the rest of the Disciples know about ROCKS??? NIV Genesis 49:24-25 24. But his bow remained steady, his strong arms stayed limber, because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel, 25. because of your father's God, who helps you, because of the Almighty, who blesses you with blessings of the heavens above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breast and womb. NIV Numbers 20:8
"Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink." NIV Deuteronomy 32:4
He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he. NIV Deuteronomy 32:15
Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; filled with food, he became heavy and sleek. He abandoned the God who made him and rejected the Rock his Savior. NIV Deuteronomy 32:18
You deserted the Rock, who fathered you; you forgot the God who gave you birth. NIV Deuteronomy 32:30-31
30. How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up? 31. For their rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede. NIV 1 Samuel 2:2
"There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. NIV 2 Samuel 22:2-3
2. He said: "The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; 3. my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior-- from violent men you save me. NIV 2 Samuel 22:32
For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? NIV 2 Samuel 22:47
"The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God, the Rock, my Savior! NIV 2 Samuel 23:3-4
3. The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: `When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God, 4. he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth.' NIV Psalms 18:2
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. NIV Psalms 18:31
For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? NIV Psalms 18:46
The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior! NIV Psalms 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. NIV Psalms 28:1
To you I call, O LORD my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who have gone down to the pit.
NIV Psalms 31:2-3
2. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. 3. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. NIV Psalms 42:9
I say to God my Rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?" NIV Psalms 62:2
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. NIV Psalms 62:6
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. NIV Psalms 62:7
My salvation and my honor depend on God ; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. NIV Psalms 71:3
Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. NIV Psalms 78:35
They remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer. NIV Psalms 89:26
He will call out to me, `You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.' NIV Psalms 92:14-15
14. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15. proclaiming, "The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him." NIV Psalms 95:1
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. NIV Psalms 144:1
Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. NIV Isaiah 17:10
You have forgotten God your Savior; you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress. NIV Isaiah 26:4
Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal. NIV Isaiah 30:29
And you will sing as on the night you celebrate a holy festival; your hearts will rejoice as when people go up with flutes to the mountain of the LORD, to the Rock of Israel. NIV Isaiah 44:8
Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one." NIV Habakkuk 1:12 O LORD, are you not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, we will not die. O LORD, you have appointed them to execute judgment; O Rock, you have ordained them to punish. |
And now you know the Biblical position!
