There are many, many more Protestant denominations out there, not just those reflected in the links above. How many? Well, nobody really knows for sure exactly how many Protestant denominations exist at any given point in time, because after you get done counting the first forty or fifty thousand, several thousand more new ones pop up here and there all over the place, like popping pop corn! :-)
We Catholics love all our Protestant brothers and sisters (no matter how many denominations or "non-denominations" they belong to), and we simply want to share the fullness of the truth with them, so that they can find the precious jewel (the "pearl of great price") that we have already found (by the Grace of God). With that in mind, the following song is dedicated to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, and their ever-increasing number of distinct and ever-changing denominations with contradictory, mutually-exclusive, incompatible teachings. (And, no, that is not a bunch of cardinals singing that song!)
☺
(Song -- "Bless 'em All!")
(This song is a tribute to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, no matter what denomination -- or "non-denomination" -- they are currently in.)
"I appeal to you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment." (1 Corinthians 1:10)
I was born a Catholic and born again a Christian. Not interested in Catholicism’s hang up with denominations.
Praise God, yet God will expose what is much in us also:
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. (Ephesians 5:13)
It certainly is contrary to the Roman model. And Peter is entirely absent - even the need for submission to him as supreme head or commendation for so doing, as it is in all church epistles.
In many issue that evidently is the case.
I guess Resettozero is quite a fitting name:) Good to hear from you.
But which has changed, as excommunication by Rome in some centuries can be changed to obedience in another.
I thought Scott Hahn was the beloved apologist for FRomans here.
Where ya been bro?
I thought you just asserted/concurred in your post 148 re : post 145 re: post 3, that 2 people constitute a church and are equal to the original Jewish Apostles. Did you mean something else ?
I thought its view captured the essence of the Protestant/Protester problem. Streams of next generation Protestants (not those that hold to original Protestant churches) continually try to reform the original church with themselves the designated human authorities. They tend to interpret everything the LORD said to the Apostles as if it were to themselves. They recognize no other authority but their own to determine when and where the Holy Spirit is speaking and can justify just about anything they do in their own minds until cornered, ala Jimmy Swaggart. Even then, they cannot bear to leave the ministry.
No one can authoritatively tell them what to do. If they don't like a church they pick another. Eventually they can start their own church to correct all the problems they identified in the rest. Now they have the perfect church model, ala Mars Church group.
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
Are you talking about the current pope?
I'm gonna bookmark this so every time a FRoman Catholic starts to engage in disputes concerning Catholicism, I can point them to the "rules" and how they are excommunicating themselves (Latae sententiae). That'll shut 'em up, right??!! ;o)
Powerful message.
Don't hold your breath... ; )
I’ll wait to see if any FR Catholics denounce this woman.
If they don’t; I guess that would mean they agree with what she has written.
“You can’t go to a single even remotely religious thread without seeing it turn into a Catholic versus Protestant fight”
That’s because protestants have had an inferiority complex for the last 500 years.
meh. The OP is an unmitigated screed....
Moreover, and the point I was getting on about, is the chest-beating crow that the Roman church was established by Yeshua, and holds direct and singular authority: Such a claim is too often allowed to fester without calling them on it - And one can be assured, they have no proof, can provide no validation, and cannot even manufacture such proof (though they did try) - The claim has no basis in fact whatsoever.
Those in glass houses should not throw stones.
Nope. Never, ever had an inferiority thought. I am a Christian through believing Jesus and His Word. Never met anyone who did. Wistful thinking on your part.
Hahahahahaaaaaa! Any brother or sister in Christ can boast of a SUPERIORITY complex, unlike the Romists who can only hope to survive their imaginary Purgatory. Paul wrote much to the Roman Church (not to be confused with the Roman CATHOLIC cult!)
Romans 5: 5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because Gods love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from Gods wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were Gods enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
