‘Makes Christianity Look Silly’: Creationist Ken Ham Unleashes on Pat Robertson
The Blaze ^ | May 15, 2014 | Billy Hallowell

Young earth creationist Ken Ham lashed out at televangelist Pat Robertson over his claim earlier this week that someone has to be “deaf, dumb and blind” to believe that the Earth is only 6,000 years old, accusing Robertson of compromising “the Word of God.”

“Pat Robertson illustrates one of the biggest problems we have today in the church — people like Robertson compromise the Word of God with the pagan ideas of fallible men!,” Ham wrote on his Facebook page. “Pat Robertson is not upholding the Word of God with his ridiculous statements — he is undermining the authority of the Word. And any attack on the WORD is an attack on the person of Jesus Christ, who IS THE WORD!”

Ham, who runs Answers in Genesis, a Christian ministry that takes the Bible’s Genesis account of creation literally, broke down the comments Robertson made on CBN’s “The 700 Club” earlier this week in a point-by-point analysis.

In addition to accusing Roberson of expressing “his utter ignorance of science,” Ham wrote that the televangelist “makes Christianity look silly.”

But Ham took particular exception to Robertson’s claim that there is no way that the Earth could have possibly come to fruition in such a short time span.

“Really Pat Robertson? You mean there is no way God, the infinite Creator, could not have created the universe in six days just six thousand years ago?,” Ham rhetorically asked. “God could have created everything in six seconds if He wanted [to]! And it’s not a matter of what you think anyway — it’s a matter of what God has clearly told us in His infallible WORD!”

As TheBlaze previously reported, Robertson unleashed his critiques on young earth creationists Tuesday, saying that they are mistaken in their views about the age of the planet.

“The truth is, you have to be deaf, dumb and blind to think that this Earth that we live in only has 6,000 years of existence, it just doesn’t, I’m sorry,” Robertson said.

He added, “I think what we’re looking at is that there was a point of time after the Earth was created, after these things were done, after the universe was formed, after the asteroid hit the Earth and wiped out the dinosaurs — after that, there was a point of time that there was a particular human being that God touched — and that was the human that started the race that we are now part of.”

Isn’t Ken Ham the business partner of atheist charlatan Bill Nye?

They grift with their Mutt and Jeff routine, dog and pony show.

Can't see how Robertson is wrong in this debate.
Petrified fossils are millions of years old, not 6,000 and to assert the contrary accuses the Creator of lying through the fossil record.

Couldn't possibly be that Ham misunderstands the Bible, of course.

God could also create dragons, fairies, trolls, magic, etc... But I don’t believe He did that, either.

Like most creationism evangelists, Ken Ham preys on the gullible for the money. Between his website (and on-line store) and his “museum”, I’m sure that he is living quite comfortably.

I have to agree with Pat Robertson here: young earth creationism makes Christians look really bad. God actually did *not* lie to us by filling the physical universe with evidence of great age and planting evidence that life not only evolved in the past but continues to evolve. Since God is not a liar, it is clear: the Bible is a moral code, not a scientific document.

The falsehood is that it requires “billions and billions” of years to form fossils, sediment beds, and such like. Exploration of the area surrounding Mt. St. Helens just a few years after the eruption found conditions which had the appearance of great age.

I have great respect for the personage Pat Robertson USED TO BE. But he has come off with some dingbat statements in recent years which indicate to me that it’s time for ol’ Pat to retire to his farm and whisper to his horses.

Are you referring to the "study" thoroughly debunked here?

Purveyors of creationism are as dishonest about Christianity as they are about science. I have yet to see any of their claims supported by scientific *or* Biblical evidence. They get rich by hoodwinking people.

God being the deliberate Author of Time and all things we lack the Wisdom and Authority to accuse the Him of anything. Accept his Authority and Power or reject it.

God Almighty is the single Being who can truly say: “Are you going to believe Me or your lying eyes”.

One can believe that the world is older than 6,000 years and still believe in the literal creation account in Genesis.

Mankind hasn't been on Earth longer than 6-10 thousand years.

Wonderful point... in essence almost everyone believes in something. For those who do not, should they live long enough and not become bitter, they too generally contemplate the boundaries of Death, and while they may have never really lived, conversion to a faith usually allows them Peace in passing.

How many days weeks or months are in a God-year?
Does everyone think the Creator had a watch and a 365 day/12 month calendar year before the universe(s) exploded and started to expand?

maybe one universe lifespan is one God-year.

For the record there, Tucker 39, "exDemMom" is an avowed atheist.

Read anything she posts at FR informed by that simple fact, and you will understand the perspective of the simple mind that holds forth as she does on any topic.

Well....except for his belief that he continues to peddle the notion that “on the first day” etc. actually refers to a single day, when quite clearly the Bible later explains that to God a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day.
