Lead Pastor David Loveless, who has been married for 33-years and was recognized as "one of the top 20 Christian leaders in the US to watch," has resigned from the Discovery Church in Orlando after admitting to having an affair, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
Loveless is the third pastor of a major Orlando-area church to resign within the past six-months because of an affair.

I’ve seen his son, Ed Young Jr. (Fellowship Church, Dallas) preach a time or two as well — and he also seems quite solid.
Mark Driscoll (Mars Hill, Seattle) is as doctrinally conservative as they come. Haven’t had the opportunity to see him preach — but his books are solid.

I agree on all points. Doctor Young is really a Jesus centered preacher.
Anywhere you find people, you will find flawed people - "for all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God"
That's why it's critical to know your Bible, and extend a ton of grace....we all need it!
Sorry, but small home churches is where it is, and will be in any coming spiritual awakening
Ya but what do ya do??? If you are good at preaching and the people keep coming, what's the solution...These guys just kept adding on but there's probably a better way to do it...

People who are in leadership in general are subject to pressures and temptations and stresses that simply go with the territory.
People in church leadership are no different. And as churches grow, the pressures and temptations grow maybe exponentially. They more than anyone need people in their personal lives to keep them grounded and accountable. That, and an active prayer life to keep them connected and to “keep the annointing”.
Preachers who go off the rails are almost a cliche. They are humans. But this is why churches need a strong eldership who are not toadies, and who are prepared to speak up and step in before lines have been crossed that must not be crossed.

All groups have problems or issues.
What exactly are they doing, though? Not all work is God's work, even if it is popular; much of it stinks in his nostrils. Wood, hay and stubble.
The first church, documented in Acts, had 3,000 male members. If you include the wives and children it may have been as large as 10-12,000 people.
So there is precedent for the Mega church.

Not so. Robert Schuller is the former pastor of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, along with his entire dysfunctional family.
Rick Warren is the current pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest.
Most of the Mega churches are that big because of sound preaching and doctrine. They are generally very conservative and are quite good, otherwise they would be smaller. That is my experience anyway.
The large churches that make the news are in the news because they are not the conservative churches. But they seem to be a bit unusual in that regard.
That's something my own church is struggling with. There is a large part of the congregation that thinks "Baptist" in the name is hampering growth. And there is plenty of empirical evidence that they may be right. But I hate the idea of a church hiding who they are instead of boldly defending it.

Sanford Pastor Sam Hinn engaged in a four-year love affair with a member of his congregation before being confronted by his wife and church officials, prompting him to step away from the pulpit, according to the woman’s family.
Chantel Wonder said Hinn, the younger brother of televangelist Benny Hinn, initiated the affair with her mother by telling her they were “soul mates” and that God approved of the relationship.
“He put her in a position that this is OK because it’s what God wants. He was using God to justify it,” said Wonder, 28, of St. Petersburg.
Hinn, 51, founded The Gathering Place Worship Center in 1996, about five years before Wonder’s family joined.
Messages left on Hinn’s home phone were not returned. Emails and phone calls to church officers were not answered.
Wonder said her father became aware of the affair in December 2008 after he found text and voice messages from Hinn on his wife’s phone. At the time, his wife denied the affair. The couple, who were married June 20, 1980, divorced on Feb. 14, 2012.

They are seeker churches, shallow foundation.
You need to do your home work. The poster was correct, Warren was an ardent disciple of the schiester for years and patterned much of his so-called “ministry” after Schuller’s.
