An elementary school teacher in Chesapeake, Va. has been charged with simple assault after a parent claimed her daughter’s hand was cut open as a result of the teacher yanking her arm aggressively while trying to teach students an “Islamic hand sign.”
Officer Leo Kosinski, a spokesman for the Chesapeake Police Department, told TheBlaze that Tara Harris was criminally charged with a misdemeanor on Oct. 11 and released on a summons. The case is currently under investigation.
“It’s still a criminal charge. It happened at the school and it involved a student,” Kosinski said. The police department could not release any additional information.
Stephanie Bennett, the mother of the 10-year-old girl who was allegedly assaulted at Butts Road Intermediate School, told TheBlaze in an emotional phone interview that Harris has a disturbing trend of “indoctrinating” students with Islamic teachings. She also said the teacher openly campaigns for President Barack Obama in the classroom.

I’ve never heard of “Islamic hand signs” before. When I read the description (a sort of upside-down A), it sounded like Teach was trying to show them how to make gang signs. Or maybe Islamic hand-signs and gang signs are one and the same.
In any case, I’m glad the girl’s mother was on top of things, but if it’s true that this teacher is working for Obama in the classroom and pushing Islam, it sounds like there are a lot of parents who should be joining her in getting that teacher fired.

You essentially have a spectrum. At one end you have the ideas of individual liberty and individuals being free to pursue their own goals, and at the other end you have the idea that the individual is the property of the Group (whether that group is the Islamic Ummah or the Communist State).

Those are all over the place in the street markets of the Old City of Jerusalem. My guess is they’ve become a good souvenir item for all the stupid tourists. Definitely superstitious in origin though.
A local teacher played this for the class, along with the same for the VP debate. It’s not close to what happened in VA, but It still troubles me.

openly campaigning for Obama is probably happening in every classroom in this country. My niece tells stories of teachers who belittle christians and religion.

The one from the VP debate was even worse. It’s not my child, though. It’s a child that my daughter has been taking care of before and after school. Her mother is a principal in the school district and not likely to be sympathetic to my complaint.
Each Salah is made up of a repeating unit or cycle called a raka'ah. The number of raka'ahs for the five daily worship can be found below. A basic raka'ah is made up of these parts.
Standing
A Muslim raises his hands to recite Takbeeratul-Ihram in prayer

If this is the first raka'ah, the prayer is commenced by the saying of the takbir, which is الله أَكْبَر (transliteration "allāhu 'akbar", meaning God is Greater). The hands are raised level with shoulders or level with top of the ears, with fingers apart and not spaced out or together. This is done before, with or after the takbir. One who wants to show respect will hold their hands there for about a few 5 extra seconds extending the takbeer. [22][note 1]
Both arms are placed over the chest, with the right arm over the left.[23]
If this is the first raka'ah, a supplication praising God is said such as سُبحَانَکَ اللّٰھُمَّ وَ بِحَمدِکَ وَ تَبَارَکَ اسمُکَ وَ تَعَالٰی جَدُّکَ وَ لَا ِالٰہَ غَیرُک
Subhaanak-Allaahumma, wa bihamdika, wa tabaarakasmuka, wa ta'aalaa jadduka, wa laa ilaaha ghayruka.[24]
Muslims then ask refuge from God from such as 'acūdhu bi-llāhi min ash-shayṭāni r-rajīm.[25]
The recitation of the Quran begins with b-ism illāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm.[26]
Surah Al-Fatiha is recited.[26]
If this is the first or second raka'ah, the recitation of Al-Fatiha is followed with a recitation from any other section from the Quran of choice.[27]
The takbeer is said again and the hands are raised as previously described and the next position, ruku', begins.[28]
Bowing
Main article: Ruku'
The palms are placed on the knees, with finger spaced out. The back is erected at an angle at which poured water may not fall from it.[29]
Some of many types of remembrances of God are recited for this situation such as سبحان ربى العظيم (transliteration subḥāna rabbī al-caẓīm, meaning "Glory to my Lord, the Most Magnificent") three times or more.[30]
If you say it more than three times, you should recite an odd number and recite the same amount for sajdahs... Allah gives more reward for this I'tidal and stopping
I'tidal is the standing again after ruku'. The back is straightened and the hands are raised as in takbir as mentioned before but saying سمع الله لمن حمده (transliteration samica allāhu li-man ḥamidah, meaning "Allah listens and responds to the one who praises him").[31]
Some of many praises to God are said for this situation such as ربنا لك الحمد (transliteration rabbanā wa-laka al-ḥamd, meaning "O our Lord! And all praise is for You").[32]
The takbir is said and the hands are either raised or do not raised as mentioned before as the next position, prostration, begins with hands on the ground before knees
