Condolences and a prayer to PFC Rios-Ordonez’s family and friends.

Lamh Foistenach Abu! My heart hurts for every single Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine that we lose in the never ending wars. My older son is a Marine reservist and is subject to call up at any time. He is also most likely moving toward an officer track and at least a hitch in the Fleet.
This makes me immensely proud.
Yet, as our country seems to now move from one war to another, unceasingly, I have to step back and ask the question, “Why?”
To an extent I could understand Iraq (where son was deployed) as correcting our previous error of supporting Sadaam. Afghanistan - I cannot understand. Why are we STILL flailing away in the “Graveyard of Empires?” What does “victory” look like?
This is not in any way to denigrate the service and sacrifice of PFC Rios-Ordonez. I’m just struggling with the worthiness of the call that he and so many others have answered.

Prayers for PFC Rios-Ordonez and prayers of comfort for his family. Thank God for men like this soldier who give it all for our freedom.
