OneVike has been a Freeper since early 1998, and it seems he is having some medical troubles. I know OV from before I joined FreeRepublic, in fact he is the one who turned me onto FR. I have not regretted the day I joined, and I have many new friends I would not have had if it were not for him getting me to join. OV has never been one to worry about his own troubles much, instead he is usually asking others to pray for his paraplegic wife who has had her share of troubles.
I found out that he is suffering from some sort of nerve problem that has made it impossible for him to concentrate or even use a keyboard. I guess it's an old injury from the accident he and his wife were in 22 years ago that put her in a wheelchair. I talked to him on the phone and he is not sure when he will heal.
The doctors say they cannot do anything for him because he has arthritis that has set into his neck from a childhood illness that was aggravated even worse by the accident in "87". He was told when the inflammation goes down they might be able to help, but as long as it's inflamed there isn't much they can do. They have him on pain killers but he says they really only take the edge off. He doesn't sleep good at night and is finding difficult to even do the things he normally does for his wife.
I read some comments to an article he wrote on his blog called PUP where he explained some of his problems why he has not posted but a few articles this Month and while there is some support for him with prayers, quite a few are leaving hateful comments about his troubles. Saying things like God is doing it to him because he is a bigot, and they hope he never recovers to write again.
Well, I am asking you all to pray for OV, and maybe let those hateful liberals who are leaving mean spirited and evil comments on his site know what you think.
Prayers lifted.
In prayer for your healing
Sending Prayers.
Prayers for you & your wife. I pray that you feel better soon.
Prayers for One Vike.
The Lord doesn’t necessarily promise physical healing, however He is our strength and our salvation.
And if you have to continue physical suffering and sometimes feel a bit defeated, there is a hymn which may provide some encouragement.
When I fear my faith will fail
Words: Ada R. Habershon
When I fear my faith will fail,
Christ will hold me fast;
When the tempter would prevail,
He can hold me fast.
Refrain
He will hold me fast,
He will hold me fast;
For my Savior loves me so,
He will hold me fast.
I could never keep my hold,
He will hold me fast;
For my love is often cold,
He must hold me fast.
Refrain
I am precious in His sight,
He will hold me fast;
Those He saves are His delight.
He will hold me fast.
Refrain
Hell not let my soul be lost,
Christ will hold me fast;
Bought by Him at such a cost,
He will hold me fast.
Refrain
Praying for God’s sustaining power whatever happens. His will be done.
Hey there One Vike, I’ve said a prayer for you and do hope you’re on the road to recovery. I have a bulging lumbar disc, with sciatica and facet joint syndrome, so I may know a little of what you’re going through (just a little lower down the spine from your problems). I sometimes get steroid injections into the disc to relieve the inflammation, is this something you’ve had done or that could be done for you at this time? It seems odd that there’s nothing more to do for your inflammation than ibuprophen. I’ve also had radio frequency nerve ablasion in the facet joints that has been tremendously helpful. I know you can’t reply to this but I just wanted to throw that out there perhaps as something you could look into. Best of luck to you and your wife!
Amen. Beautiful prayer - thank you.
Prayers lifted, for you and your wife, good FRiend. Prayers for strength and comfort, and prayers to turn the hearts of those who would rejoice in another’s pain.
God bless and keep you both,
Tatt
praying for our FRiend...
Prayers up.
Thank you Chgogal. FYI, Robert and his family are now in Hawaii (three year assignment). Not sure yet if he’ll be deploying to Afghanistan. I’ll keep you informed.
Prayers up. I pray that your arthritis inflamation goes down and you can recieve the treatment you need for your nerve problems.
Joining in with prayers up for the pain to go away, the inflammation to go down and a workable solution be found by the doctors.
Thanks for posting this Tom Hawks.
