Lawyers for the Roman Catholic Church urged a court Monday to let Christians use "Allah" as a translation for God and overturn a government ban that has become a symbol of religious grievances in Muslim-majority Malaysia.
The High Court began hearing legal arguments in the dispute, which began in late 2007 after the government blocked non-Muslims from translating God as "Allah" in their literature, saying it would confuse Muslims.

While I understand why the Catholic Church wishes to do this in this part of the world, I say this as a Roman Catholic... Allah is not the Christian God.
Allah is Satan fooling folks into thinking he is God. The Muslim faith is Satans greatest ploy.
the islamists would beg to differ- ALLAH is God’s personal name... He told Mohammed so..... off with your head
the etymology of all’ah seems to be in dispute- some say the term “allah” is derived from elohim or someother term for Supreme deity- others suggest the name “allah” is derived from the name of a pagan moon god who became “the one God” by triumph over a pantheon of lesser deities
NO ONE knows. The interpretations seem to vary according to the agenda (pro or anti muslim). A someone said, the name “allah” has got hijacked by folks who are definitely not on the same road to the same God as Judeao-Christians- despite what George Bush 43 said
Pre Abrahamic pagans worshipped pantheistically too- but we are not now demanding name substitutions into the Bible
when “allah” is shown to be a deity who considers mankind worthy of sending a son incarnate to live in humility, and to let Him be sacrificed crudely by a species who would tear his flesh apart and cheer about it - then all’ah “might” be the same deity as recognized by Abraham
I think this whole Malaysia Christian Arab thing with the Catholic church is a smokescreen to get “alla” inserted into the Bible - where he has not existed by that name before... it is not just about a name for God
backing away now, and leaving up for further discussion
The Muslim (not arabic) concept of God is quite incompatible with the Christian (or, IMO, Jewish) concept of God.
The word "Allah" (literally, "the God") is simply the standard word in the Arabic language for God. All Arabic-speaking Christians use it.
Yes, that's correct. I believe the word "Eloh" and similar words are cognate to "Illah" in Arabic. "Al Illah" (= "the god") is then elided to "Allah".
I didn't bother checking the rest of your post.
The word “Allah” now is the accepted term in general usage for that false god.
It should not be used to refer to the One Living God imo.
Their "god" is quite different from the Christian God.
So, did you ever respond to Pyro’s valid criticism or not? You posted after he did, but did you respond to him?
Read the rest of the thread and find out for yourself. Don't make me do your homework for you.

Better than that why don’t you just do the right thing and admit that you are STILL posting a distortion TWO YEARS after it was pointed out to you.
Can you admit that it is a distortion? Or will you just make an excuse or go on posting as if this wasn’t poined out to you (AGAIN)?
What I posted was an excerpt. Try reading the rest of the thread and find out for yourself. Don't make me do your homework for you.
Yeah, that fits.

So it’s not a distortion because it’s an excerp? What? It still says that a catholic news agency said XYZ when in reality it WAS AN IRANIAN NEWS AGENCY. You think it being an excerpt some how changes that reality?
“Try reading the rest of the thread and find out for yourself. Don’t make me do your homework for you.”
I’m not. I’m asking you about NOW. You posted a post in this thread. It is a distortion you were called on more than two years ago. Do you at least admit that it is a distortion or will you continue to dodge?
By the way, I just checked through this entire thread - easy enough when it’s only 30 some odd posts long - and saw that you no where took responsibility for posting this distortion: “To quote a Catholic news organization, “Our Lady of Fatima is really Fatima, daughter of the Prophet Mohammed,” EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE CALLED ON EXACTLY THIS DISTORTION MORE THAN TWO YEARS AGO.
Will you now admit that what you posted is a distortion or will you continue to dodge that simple question?
Try reading the rest of the thread I linked to and find out for yourself. Do I need to tie your shoes for you and pin a note to your collar as well?

I’m not asking you about the other thread. I am asking you about this one. This is at least the second time I have pointed that out.
“Do I need to tie your shoes for you and pin a note to your collar as well?”
No, all you need to do is show me where in this thread your acknowledgement that you’ve respeatedly posted a distortion. Where in this thread do you make that admission? Since everyone would recognize that the ‘excerpt’ is a distortion for it makes a completely false claim, one would think it would be easy to admit the obvious. Please show the moral worth of Reformed Christianity.
I think we’re about to find out whether or not Reformed Christianity has actually had any affect on its biggest FR proponent.

I’m always amazed to hear the skunk complain that the picnic is ruined.
OKKKKKKKK....
We know there is Mary. What are the names of the other 69 wives? ;O)
How about Jesus? But then you're libel to get your head chopped off.
Pretty poor excuse.
Oh blah, blah, blah. Honestly, it's as if you Catholics cut-and-paste this comment into every post that sheds light upon misdeeds in the Church. One would hope that you would be incense with the problems rather than shooting the messengers. No wonder you have pedophile priests running around. If anyone said anything we would probably hear that it's just more "anti-Catholic nonsense".
