Alec Garrard, a 78 year old British farmer, has spent the past 30 years building a 100:1 scale model of King Herod's Temple... and he isn't finished yet.
The meticulously researched, painstakingly accurate model sits in a long house on Garrard's property. He created over 4,000 minature people to populate the model and hand-baked every clay brick. Amazing.
See the entire magnificent thing here.
Catholic ping!
Wow. Now what is he going to do?
lol holy crap I thought that was Ron Paul!
"I'd seen one or two examples of it in Biblical exhibitions, but I thought they were rubbish and I knew I could do better"
What a masterpiece!
I often think of the grandson of Herod the Great, remember what happened to him when he allowed the crowd to call him the Messiah?
Not pretty.
There was a guy in my church (when I was in Portland) who had built a model of Ezekiel’s Temple and it was recognized as an accurate and perfect model of it. In fact, he had been to Israel to talk to some of the religious leaders over there, about his model (them questioning him about it...).
In Jerusalem there is a model of ancient Jerusalem...
Herod’s Palace and all...
