>>I pray you did not take my questions to be either nasty or baiting as that was not my intent.<<

No honestly, I didn’t at all. I also didn’t want you to think that I was trying to pull something. Sometimes when one reads a thread, it is not very evident who is asking and who is baiting. I try to be forthcoming.

And thank you for your answer about the title you give!

Thank you so much for sharing your views, dear brother in Christ!

I would not have contrasted the two twins using the labels of "Catholic" and "Pentecostal."

But if we were to compare two brothers - one whose heart was set on Christ from his youth and the other whose heart had become distracted by any thing or any one else - then I would say the one who was restored would love God all the more:

Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little. - Luke 7:47

To God be the glory, not man, never man.

I have no great quibble with either of those rather reasonable assertions.

The therefore-what’s would likely lead to a parting of the ways and maybe quickly. But I find those two assertions reasonably admirable.

That’s a great story.
However, I think the ending would be, the RC gets the Zot on the first try, is taken to heaven quickly greeted by his Holy Mother and Patron Saint, and the Protestant is left to fend for himself.

>>You are addressing in post 4184 a person who has stated that Catholics are not Christians.<<

I thought so, but I’m still pretty taken aback by it.

Whew! I am relieved my questions were not taken that way. And, no, I didn't think you were trying to pull anything.

Thank you so much for sharing your insights - and thank you for your encouragements!

I thought so, but I’m still pretty taken aback by it.

I suspect there are quite a few on here who do not believe that it is possible for Catholics to be Christians; however, most are hesitant to come right out and say it.

LOL.

Yeah. I felt/thought the same thing when I got to that point in the writing of it. That’s why I said 15 days into it! LOL.

Forgiveness and Restoration are the heart of Christianity—through Christ’s Blood, Cross, imho.

If I make a proposition and someone responds merely by asserting its contrary

CCC: 969 - 969 "This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix."512

This is what the Roman Catholic church "proposes." God's holy word "asserts the contrary."

As many times as required.

'For Christ is not entered into the holy place made with hands...but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:" -- Hebrews 9:24

"Wherefore he (Jesus) is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he forever liveth to make intercession for them." -- Hebrews 7:25

"He (Jesus) maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God...

It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." -- Romans 8:27,34

"...if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" -- 1 John 2:1

"Behold, God is mine helper" -- Psalm 54:4

"So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." -- Hebrews 13:6

"For this cause he (Christ) is the mediator of the new testament." -- Hebrews 9:15

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, Christ Jesus." -- 1 Timothy 2:5

I have been the recipient of a hundred "Calvinism makes robots out of Christians." Not once have I thought I was being personally insulted. Each time that criticism is leveled is an opportunity to counter with Scripture, with Spurgeon, with Boettner, with Van Til, with Warfield, with Augustine, with Calvin, with Luther, with Edwards, etc.

It's called debate.

And in this debate, as raucus and persistent as possible within the guidelines of the FR Religion Forum, we Bible-believing Christians will "do so repeatedly," having "examined the consequences" and determined the truth to be worth stating out loud.

It feels like an attack.

Perhaps, then, it's the Catholic apologist who should "examine the consequences" of "asserting the contrary" to what the Scriptures instruct...

"For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." -- 1 Corinthians 2:2

LOL.

Though I’m having a hard time following the rationale of that ending.

Thx. for your kind reply.

INDEED.

I’d warily look around for an impending !ZOT! if I dared to begin to start to commence to think that I could get away with diminishing the UTTER PRIORITY OF GOD’S LIVING UNALTERABLE WORD.

None of the verses you quote state that Mary cannot or does not intercede for us.

And that’s fine with me. I loved the sound of the language.

However, it’s not a flawless translation either.

And it’s silly to try and use it with Chinese English as a Second Language learners.

Thanks for including Catholics in that. I appreciate it.

I like happy endings. A happier one is that both of them were taken to Heaven and partied with the Heavenly Host, praising God!

I lived through that 92 degrees with 97% humidity and no electricity. Yuck.

I think there’s a FAITHFULNESS TO GOD

that gets communicated to SOME RC’s that surpasses that of many Prottys.

I think there’s a respect for GOD’S AUTHORITY that gets communicated to SOME RC’s that surpasses that of many Prottys.

I think there’s a respect for the place GOD PUTS ONE IN that’s communicated to SOME RC’s that surpasses that of many Prottys.

I think many of the RC edifice’s outreaches to the poor are well designed and well carried out—probably on many RC’s parts—out of a good heart.

Of course I cheer the anti-infanticide position.

I cheer the emphasis on family and marriage stability.

I cheer the principle of religious education though that’s tempered by a lot of content I view as from the pit.

I’m reminded of the old saw . . .

there’s enough bad in the best of us and enough good in the worst of us . . .
