We believe in the God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. What we reject is the doctrine that they are three Persons in one Being.

This is another case of Mormons abandoning their earlier teachings and "revelation" from the Book of Mormon, which CLEARLY teaches that Jesus IS God in the flesh.

You see, when Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon he hadn't yet come up with the idea of the Godhead actually being multiple gods.

This is why in 1835 the "Lectures on Faith," which were originally delivered before a class of the elders, in Kirtland, Ohio, were printed as scripture in the Doctrine and Covenants. In these lectures it was definitely stated that God the Father was a personage of spirit.

In the fifth lecture we find this statement about the Godhead: "... the Father being a personage of spirit, glory, and power, possessing all perfection and fullness, the Son, who was in the bosom of the Father, a personage of tabernacle... "(Doctrine and Covenants, 1835 ed., p.53).

The Lectures on Faith not only taught that God the Father is a "personage of Spirit," but also that God is "omnipresent"—i.e., present everywhere at the same time (Ibid., pp.12, 26).

These Lectures on Faith were printed in all of the early editions of the Doctrine and Covenants, but in 1921 they were completely removed and have not appeared in subsequent editions. WHY? On page 58 of the 1835 edition of the Doctrine and Covenants the following question and answer appear: "Q. Does the foregoing account of the Godhead lay a sure foundation for the exercise of faith in him unto life and salvation? A. It does."

Now that the Mormon church teaches a plurality of Gods and that men become Gods, these lectures are considered "not complete" as to their teachings on the Godhead. The truth of the matter is that they contradict what is presently taught by church leaders with regard to this subject.

To avoid "confusion and contention" over the Godhead the Mormon leaders slyly removed the Lectures on Faith from the Doctrine and Covenants. This was done in spite of the fact that Joseph Smith himself had considered them important enough to include. Since these lectures were about seventy pages long, this amounted to a major deletion. The Lectures on Faith had been voted on unanimously by the conference assembled August 17, 1835 to be included in the Doctrine and Covenants. NO documentary evidence exists to show that they were voted on by a general conference of the Church to be omitted in the 1921 and all subsequent editions of The Doctrine and Covenants.

Who said Jehovah was not part of the Godhead?

So now what are you saying? Did Moses see God (as you said before)? Did he see "Jehovah", as according to LDS doctrine? Or did he see the entire Godhead?

The Holy Ghost you feel his presents, the Heavenly Father commission his only begotten Son Jehovah, to be the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

According to what the OT records say Moses only saw Jehavah.

The NT and Joseph Smith recorded that Heavenly Father introduce his Son

"This is my Son hear him" in several places!

Matt. 17:
5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Mark 9:
7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Luke 9:
35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

JS-H 1:
17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!

Amazing because you can with your finite mind come up with a senario it must be so!

You throw those words around but you have no comprehention of the mind of God nor could you until you humble yourself to him so he can teach or impart to you.

It's a no brainier.

Then it's a simple matter to show the picture of the manuscript, with the "correct" text, to prove that NEPHI was NOT written there; right?

You asked (yet again) why the happenings of the temple are not written in our scriptures, and I pointed out that not everything that Jesus said to his closest disciples were written down either, in fact, he mostly spoke in parables to the general public. How is this any different?

You did not answer the question I asked; THAT's how it's different.

Your whole organization is obsessive about the claim that we did NOT have enough Scripture to fully function as believers in Christ: thus the BoM, PGP, D&C's.

To then claim that certain things you do are so SACRED that to merely post them on FR in public view will get them yanked by you guys IMMEDIATELY, strains the brains of most non-LDS folks - of which I am one.

God is the ONLY confirmer of truth!

Sorry; but when literally THOUSANDS of folks have done EXACTLY as your organization claims should be done, they come away with a DIFFERENT answer, which you then claim was not done correctly.

Sounds like the elusive Tooth Fairy Syndrome.

Perhaps, you like Elsie, would enjoy a thorough reading of Enoch.

Or not.

Anton LaVey's stuff left me a bit cold.

So here we have Enoch's prophesies recorded in the New Testament, but his actual writings are nowhere to be found in accepted cannon.

So?

Out of curiosity, since we know the Jews are the tribe of Joseph, and all Israel includes ALL the 12 tribes, why does the Ez. 37 reference talk of only two tribes bearing record? Stick of Judah and stick of Joseph? Why do you think Joseph is singled out here as a record?

Gosh; I don't know - perhaps becuase they had split into the Northern and Southern groups?

Because Kings are a record of one group and Chronicals are the record of the other?

Ez. 37:16.
"Son of man, take a stick of wood and write on it, `Belonging to Judah and the Israelites associated with him.' Then take another stick of wood, and write on it, `Ephraim's stick, belonging to Joseph and all the house of Israel associated with him.'

BTW; it's EPHRAIM's stick: NOT Joseph's.

... one thing I know for sure that Spirit are eternal they are not created!

NIV Genesis 6:6-7
 6.  The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.
 7.  So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth--men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air--for I am grieved that I have made them."

NIV Deuteronomy 4:32
Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created man on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of?

NIV Psalms 102:18
Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD:

NIV Psalms 104:30
When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.

NIV Isaiah 45:12
It is I who made the earth and created mankind upon it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.

It appears that a person with knowledge of the Scriptures would disagree.

Have you read and compared the JST to the Bible?

Many of the changes have been posted on these threads before.

Joseph Smith clarified some things, these are not radical changes.

WHOA!

Many rational folks will REALLY disagree here!

You don’t like the Utah culture of making up names?

I didn't say that, but I have poked fun at it.

I don't like seeing young dudes with bright green mohawks; but it will grow out with time.

(Perhaps I'm just envious that I do not have enought hair to do that! ;^)

The more I study Scripture, the more this indicates to me that Mormons seek guidance from spirits, but are insufficiently discerning to separate deception from election.

Here's the test:

1 John 4

 1.  Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
 2.  This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
 3.  but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

Reread my post. I didn’t blow you off. I cut to the heart of the matter. Not even any deceiving spirit is able to violate the will of the Father and overpower Him or the work of the Holy Spirit.

As a defender of Mormonism, you have already manifest your heart. The fundamental problem is based upon the identity of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, Yahushua, Emmanuel, God Himself who provides salvation, God who has come in the flesh. When that is not understood or accepted, the Holy Spirit is not free to grace the person who rejects Him with sanctification. This includes initial positional sanctification in salvation, as well as postsalvation continuing sanctification in renewing the mind and soul of the believer. This is something deceiving spirits recognize, so with all guile and deception will attempt to preoccupy humans from accepting faith through Christ.

As soon as one denies either the humanity of Christ, or His deity, but still seeks spiritual guidance, a door is open to deceiving spirits.

Any number of distractions or interruptions may then be used by deceiving spirits, either upon yourself or those around you to prevent, hinder, or distract you from addressing the core issue on your own volition.

The issue is one of simple faith.

That faith is only provided by God, not by any other spirit or human. When the Gospel is understood, the person hearing it may either accept it through faith or reject faith. Faith is not rationalism. Understanding a rational argument might relax past reservations and distractions from hearing the Gospel, but rationalism is not a substitute for faith.

There are only two categories of humans involved in hearing the Gospel: those who lack salvation (unbelievers), and those who at some time in their lives have accepted faith through Christ (believers).

Amongst believers, there are two subsets, believers in fellowship with God through faith in Christ and those who are out of fellowship. The former group simply remain in fellowship by avoiding temptation and remaining faithful through Him. The later group simply return to God through faith in Christ and must confess known and unknown areas where they have missed the mark (sinned), resulting in a situation where our righteous and just God no longer remembers the our post salvation sin and is free to continue in His process of further sanctifying the believer.

In all cases, God the Holy Spirit is the active person of the Godhead through which His blessings fall upon the believer/unbeliever. Salvation resulting in the immediate regeneration of the human spirit in the believer is the work of the Holy Spirit. Repentance of the degenerate believer is first recognized by the Holy Spirit who has sealed the believer and conveys the sinners’ prayer of confession to the Holiness of the Father by unknowable groanings. God is then free to continue the sanctification of the believer through faith in Christ.

If the object of that faith is specifically void of divinity by the volition of the thinker, then God is not free to recognize that thinking as a true belief, but instead in His perfect justice identifies that thinking as corrupt. Again, this is something deceiving spirits relish.

The very name of Yahweh conveys His Deity. In Hebrew, the first person singular of the verb, ‘to be’, is used to express His identity, ‘I Am that I Am’. The 3rd person masculine singular of the same verb is used in the word, “Yahweh”. We are confirming His existence when we use His name.

The name of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Yahushua, means “Yahweh saves”.

No man has seen the Father, yet Moses spoke to Him face to face. (Ex 33:20, John 1:18, 5:37) These are Christophanies, wherein the Son appears or is manifest to believers prior to His coming in the flesh in the Incarnation.

The only person who can provide both physical and spiritual deliverance in the second person of the Godhead, the Son, who is one with the Father and provides for our salvation.

Deceiving spirits love to confuse on this issue, seeking to distract and delay a human from exercising volition to have faith through Christ. During this Church Age, we are indwelt by God the Holy Spirit, who provides a temple for the indwelling of the Father and the Son. The Shekinah Glory is real.

There are many believers who may drift out of fellowship by latching onto false doctrine. They will then be tempted to counterfeit His Plan with making order out of disorder by other substitutions. Making order out of disorder is the definitiaon of KOSMOS, or translated frequently as the World. Worldly systems include religious institutions which latch onto false doctrine as one of the Adversary’s major attacks upon God’s followers. Another attack is to substitute soulish perspectives of faith by rationalism, again independent of faith through Christ.

It boils down to faith in God through faith in Christ, because God has provided Christ, the Son as the propitiation for the sin of man, so He is free to have a relationship with us. When we accept what He has provided and by faith, which was what was found to be righteous in the Son by the Father, even after all of humanity’s sins had been placed upon Him, we then are in a place where God the Father is free to further sanctify us.

All authority has been given to the Son and through no other may we approach the Father. Until He returns, He has also provided for the Holy Spirit to indwell us and further sanctify us. So no matter how arrogant and confident a deceiving spirit might become, they still are incompetently foolish to ever think they have more power than God or that any substitution for His Plan might succeed as is evidenced by the simple free volition of humans who are free to come to God through faith in Christ when they are simply allowed to continue in such free thought.

Understanding the persons of the Godhead only comes through faith in Christ, allowing the Holy Spirit the opportunity in our thinking to supernaturally sanctify us by His Plan.

If we deny Him, other deceiving spirits exist might seize the opportunity to attack and or deceive as counterfeit substitutes of what God has already so graciously provided. For the unbeliever who has never accepted God’s salvation through faith in Christ, rejection of His salvation by His Plan and no other interpretation means the unbelieving soul may be susceptible to demonic possession. For the degenerate believer, who slips into post salvation sin, but never returns to Him through faith in Christ by what God has provided, but lingers in false doctrine, the degenerate believer is still sealed, but is susceptible to demonic influence.

Demonic influence includes a litany of deceiving, seemingly innocuous, friendly, alluring temptations. It might appeal to body, worldly, soulish, or even spiritual domains, as long as there is a twist so as to deceive from faith through Christ.

But here’s the catch. From eternity past, God has predetermined who will come to Him and no power is able to overturn that predetermination. By faith through Christ, nothing is impossible, no matter what the opposition.

The return to Him is simply a matter of thinking, through faith in Christ.
