The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

You're a Mac user, right? Are you still running OS9?

It is still on my computer , but I am using OS 10.3 (I had to buy an external Hard drive so I could have room for both OS systems (Word is on OS 9 so I did not want to dump it )

Safari is an issue. There are some wonderful bells and whistles on Panther , but it is a space hog and safari freezes or crashes if it gets stressed.

I have considered Mozella (which would be more stable on this OS) .. but at this point I am just hoping the updates fix the problems

What are you running? I have a G 3 , and am coveting a G4 (5 is out of the question ). But we are house shopping and I have to see how that shakes out before I make that link of an investment .

My son bought his bride a 17 in power book . She takes it to her bible study every week with her notes for the study on it. The woman were all very interested in it.

So she told them that was her engagement ring ...and they were all appalled :>))

She uses it for every thing ( it has a wireless connection )

It is SOOOOOOOO nice.

Can God violate Universal Laws God or would God cease to be God?

Why can't you just admit that it's a mystery?

The ways of God are a mystery , I have never said otherwise . We see through a glass darkly . BUT the Bible is clear that God does ordain sin, that the sin is a tool in the hand of God for His purposes ...and yet we willfully choose to sin.

Looks like some of the bishops are going to make a stand this election season.

I just sent the link to my new bishop and told him it would be great if he spoke this strongly.

In my view, God created Universal Laws and transcends them. If something were "higher" than God, then God wouldn't be God.

Analogy. I own a business. I make policies. In general, along with my employees, I abide by them. BUT, I reserve the right to make exceptions, modify, or ignore them as I deem fit. I am the boss; the employee handbook is not.

I'd suggest buying a ticket for tonight, but you're not allowed to gamble.

I don't mean this in a bad way but I see no difference in you putting your faith in the organized spritual leading of Mr. Calvin than Dave would from his pope. I'm one of the rebellious I guess that doesn't put my faith in man because they are only human and can fail you, even if unintentional.

Cindy that is an insult and intended to be belittling and demeaning. We follow Christ . You have stated a lie and then tried to smear us with your lie.

Do you ever bother to read anything that I post? The first teachers of Predestination were Jesus , Peter and Paul. The Baptists were the first church to teach that doctrine , why ? Because it is the doctrine of the Bible .

The Augustine taught it , and Luther a student of Augustine taught it .

It is called "Calvinism" is ONLY AS A NICK NAME

Calvin was the first man to sit down and write a "Systematic Theology ". So the doctrines of Grace are often called buy his name .

Kevin posted Chapters from the "Institutes" on FR for discussion . I believe that study , of scripture presented in an orderly systematic way, letting the scripture determine the doctrine is what brought Kevin to Calvinism.

As for you assertion that we follow a man, I might point out that Calvinism is the faith of the reformation because it is in the Bible . Although you do not like to think it ,you have fully placed your faith in the man that stands before you on Sundays to preach. You have accepted the theology of that man and not searched the scriptures as the Bereans did . I know that because when I ask you for the scripture to confirm what you believe , you offer none as citation . What you do is repeat the teachings you sit under.

As for Malakhi, I look at it that he's half way there so 50 % of the x he's got to be right . ( just teasing, Mal ). Engines aren't always at the front you know. He might have been in the lead today but who is to say Becky wasn't steering :')

No, the Bible tells us that the Jews read the old Testament without understanding because they have been blinded to the truth. ( look it up if you doubt me, both OT and NT )

And Cindy , salvation is not like horeshoes, close does not count .

I'm not interested in proselytizing or converting anyone. I might make an exception in your case, though. You'd look nice perched on my trophy case. ;o)

How is the nature of the God that Arminians teach sovereign?

The Arminian God is actually more sovereign. For we do not believe He has to have each of us on a short leash to still accomplish His will. Even through the twists and turns of human free will, evil, and everything else, God's will is still accomplished. All without Him having to forcibly steer each and every decision I make. Let that sink in before you start laughing.

Ah ... Panther on a G3. That explains it. The two don't mix well. You can pick up a good G4 for a sweet deal now that the G5s are out.
