The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.
Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

Here is original quote:
That [the Gentile Christians] were the true Israel they proved by innumerable passages from the prophets, in which G-o-d speaks of His rejection of His own people and His acceptance of the Gentiles. Little by little the Church was read back into the whole of Old Testament history, and Christian history was shown to be older than Jewish history in that [Christian history] dated from the creation, and not from Sinay, or even Avraham.
Clearly, in context, the quote of rewriting the whole of Old Testament history" was in regard to the supercession argument. Just so ya all know what kind of deception we're dealing with here, I give you Dave's paraphrase of the above quote.
Do you believe that Moses parted the Red Sea and led the Hebrews from slavery into freedom? Did Abraham have a son named "Isaac"?
If you do, and I do, I fail to see how I am supposed to have falsified the "whole" of Jewish history.
Again. In context, the rewriting of Old Testament history pertained to the supercession argument. Dave squirmed and diverted the topic to imply that the piece was speaking to actual patriarchal historical facts.
This is the kind of spin, lies and claptrap that I'm just not going to put up with anymore.

Please see post 1500. Or even read your 1410. It says any Christian must deny the Holocaust.
IF that is your position, don't crouch from it. Proclaim it boldly.

As I have said before my remark to you had nothing to do with the subject matter. Rather, it was my surprise that you would have the colossal nerve to attack anyone for the use of hyperbole.
Your constant whining did cause me to review the posts in question and I am convinced Invincibly Ignorant definitely resorted to hyperbole. This terrible crime of his was sufficient to send you into a frenzy in an attempt to prove how correct you are and how wrong he is.
Interestingly a reply of yours caught my attention.

So, since your argument is foolish on the very first detail, there is no need to examin it further.

You have succeeded in changing an argument concerning the "Gentile Church" into an "I". Who are you? What does that say about your ego?
You were perceptive enough to recognize it was futile to examine the question farther yet.......you just can't let it go can you?

As I have said before my remark to you had nothing to do with the subject matter. Rather, it was my surprise that you would have the colossal nerve to attack anyone for the use of hyperbole. In other words, you are more concerned with finding fault with me than you are in what anyone else says or how outrageous it is. Thanks for admitting it.
Your constant whining did cause me to review the posts in question and I am convinced Invincibly Ignorant definitely resorted to hyperbole.
But is it hyperbole? He doesn't seem to be arguing such. And by including the damning charge of denying the Holocaust seems to move us beyond mere spiritual interpretation of the written history of the Old testament and into more modern realms. So where is the hyperbole?
And where is your outrage? Do you think all Christians are compelled to deny the Holocaust? Do you think it's cool to say so, as long as you can catch me in a faux pas?
You have succeeded in changing an argument concerning the "Gentile Church" into an "I". Who are you? What does that say about your ego?
And if I had said "we," you'd have nit-picked me on that. Grow up. I am not the enemy here. I am not the only one capable of giving offense.

Do you have a count of the number of people arguing this question with Dave - at least one as many as 4
the number who have called him a liar - 1
and the number who have jumped on him - 2
JM
To: JohnnyM
How can I argue when I disagree with both of them. No side for me to take here :')

And you're on the fence?
SD
To: SoothingDave; Invincibly Ignorant
Nope. Sometimes I'm on your side of the fence and sometimes I'm not but I'm never in the middle. If I have it right Steven doesn't believe all the NT inspired and correct and you believe scripture not enough and needs help with tradition. Maybe you two are a lot closer than you think. You know my beliefs regarding the Holocaust.

Maybe we need to do like we did when we were kids. (Elect two team captains and start building teams). Think we could group everybody in two? Nah, we couldn't do it then either. It was best to just go 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2....:') Or even better we could all get in a circle and play duck, duck, goose. Steven could be the head patter and Dave could be the goose today :') Johnny can be the coach to make sure we play fair.
