Oh, Bull. Had a black made similar comments, not a ripple would have occurred. There are truly double standards. How sad, that any comment of a black other than heaped with praise is censored. And the left says that the administration forbids freedom of speech and dissension. Sheesh. The American people are smart and should be able to see thru this.

As I said on a previous thread:

" .. but I'm with you. This is just the beginning of a pre-election scourge that will be unabated. The guns are out .. there is a war in every segment of society for the soul of this country .. in our conventions, institutions and traditions, while we're trying to fight a global war on terror and our precious soldiers are giving their blood for our very lives.

O'Reilly may be a puffed up egocentric, but he's a soothsayer nonetheless on this point. The left is going to the mattresses, and it's gonna get really bad. I'm so grateful Bush walks with God .. he and we are gonna need Him. God Bless America. Prayers for mercy, Lord. Please make frequent prayer a part of your day."

THE MEAN SEASON IS HERE FOR REAL!

A big black eye for conservatism and so much for Rush knowing libs like the back of his hand. He really miscalculated on this one!!

I agree with you. It's embarrassing and I am sorry to see people defending him on this issue. He took something that is a real issue to many in the real word trying to make a living or apply to a college and contorted into some comment about the sports media. This is why Rush is not a political genius, he chose an inconsequential battle and lost the war. And all conservatives pay when he lives up to the left's stereotypes.

In my opinion, it was an asinine thing to say. What the hell was he thinking? He was doing a job about SPORTS. Conservative or liberal, who cares, just talk about the sport, not slants about media and hot button issues he had to of KNOWN would raise issues. He's smarter than that, or so I thought. And to bow out so soon, on an issue he hand delivered to the left. I thought part of his mantra was fighting the left's assualts.

I was border line with him anyway. I think Rush put's on a good show. But I'll stick to Quinn

Rush's apology mentions the crew, so you are probably right.

For someone who claims to be the most accomplished broadcast professional in America, what Rush did was really stupid. He threw away his dream gig. He basically called McNabb an affirmative action baby - what could he possibly have been thinking???

What about the coach who made the racist comments about WHITE people?

I'd forgotten that....I think it was Dusty Baker from the Cubs.

Who else got sacked because of comments? Well, the "Jimmy the Greek" by talking about the slave owners breeding their slaves and that is why blacks are good athletes. Howard Cosell used that "look at that little monkey go!" comment. Both of those were much worse than what Rush said.

Cosell, after referring to Alvin Garrett of the Washington Redskins as the "little monkey" was not sacked.

Al Campanis, GM of the LA Dodgers, was sacked for stating that blacks did not have the mental capacity to work in the front office.

Of course. We KNOW THAT. So does Rush.

Look, don't get me wrong. I love Rush. I have been listening to Rush for nearly 14 years. But, lately he is, well, different. This time he really put his foot in his mouth.

We all know that libs can get away with saying anything racially motivated and conservatives cannot even mention race. You would think Rush knew that better than most.

Evidently he did not. His judgement was way off on this one.

All of us who have listened to him all these years know he is not a racist. Problem is, we are conservatives. The libs and media will ignore us. This is not over for Rush. It will be used against conservatives, that is you and me, over and over and over up until the elections and beyond.

Pity. Rush really blew it on this one.

As I have said many times, the only thing conservatives have to fear is.........conservatives.

We can email ESPN to let them know they made a MISTAKE they should not have accepted the resignation.

We can deal with the enquireer at the supermarket level. Ooops was that a soda I spilled? What enquireres? (/s) (sort of)

ESPN is dead. Let the advertisers know.

Too bad. It was obvious Rush really wanted to work with the NFL in any capacity. His big mouth cost him a dream.

///////////
And what has Clinton's or Jesse Jackson's big mouths EVER cost them? Why do you give moral support to the Left for holding Rush to a double-standard.

His big mouth did not cost him a dream -- his conservative beliefs did.

I don't really think it was a race issue. Race was the excuse. I think the truth just hurts. The fact that Rush said Black was the red herring.

I nominate Rush for republican of the year---he has that give up without a fight character trait that all good little republicans have.
