I must say, McClintok did a very good job. Schwarzenegger seemed to do OK too. Bustamonte went down in freaking flames. We he made the statement, "we just spent too much" I about fell over.

Don't forget Cruzer said illegal aliens are "indigenous to this country".

At one point he also implied that Hispanics are a different group from European-Americans. The last time I checked, Spain was still a part of Europe. These liberals are so uneducated.

The lying lefty spin has begun. (Helped by Arianna's pouting to Greta after the debate last night...) Look what AP is running:

Schwarzenegger and Huffington Exchange Jabs

Sacramento, California-AP -- Movie tough-guy Arnold Schwarzenegger and self-described crusading columnist Arianna Huffington went toe-to-toe in last night's candidate debate for California governor.

When Huffington took a shot at the Bush administration, Schwarzenegger fired back, "If you want to campaign against Bush, go to New Hampshire."

Huffington took a jab at Schwarzenegger, accusing him of mistreating women when he began to cut her off. In response, Schwarzenegger offered her "a perfect part" in Terminator Four.

The moderator chastised Schwarzenegger for the comment, but the audience laughed.

Huffington says the comment was an offensive reference to a scene from "Terminator Three," in which Schwarzenegger's character stuffs a female robot's head into a toilet.

Like I said, if anyone stuffed that witch's head in a toilet, it would melt...

Arianna is a certifiable nutcase. #1 on a future Letterman's Top Ten list of Schwarzenegger retorts could be: "At least I didn't make my spouse go gay."

Another FReeper came up with that one...:)

That comment by Arianna about the robot scene was desparation cubed. Arianna wanted to mix it up with Arnold, but when it didn't go her way and he showed her up for the chumptress she was, she fell back on the poor damsel defense. Liberated women crack me up. Self assured women don't need excuses. They stand up for what they should and let the chips fall where they will, no excuses needed.

Thanks, Saber. I can appreciate McClintock's views. If he were running for office in Texas, he would likely win, I think. But ...

He's running in California. If 'Conservatives' stick to the 'principles', then California will end up with Cruz for Governor. But, from what the comments I've seen, some 'Conservatives' think that's a good thing (as I recall, I haven't seen you post that, btw). Oh, well. What can I say to that?

My brother is a Texan too, but lives in the Sacramento area. I sent him an e-mail the other day to ask him his opinion on the McClintock vs. Arnold issue. He told me that he also prefers McClintock to Arnold (same as me). But he's voting for Arnold for the same reasons that I would if I was a Cal. resident - he would rather have Arnold for Governor than Cruz ...

McClintock should gracefully bow out and run for Governor or Senate later. Just my humble opinion.

Yup. The Hillary sacred space violation by that Republican "bully" Lazio comes to mind.

Liberal women are hypocrites, especially when they allow their male counterparts to abuse real live women, not make-believe robots, with impunity so long as the guy tows the party line...

Here are some comments I stole from some liberal UC-educated professionals' overnights: (I'm a longtime member of this group of libs -- they're usually nice people and we ordinarily eschew political talk where possible)

"camejo sounded smart, mcclintock sounded well informed and rallied the conservative base, bustamante sounded gubernatorial ... and the moderator was the big loser"

"i vote ariana and arnold lost and others gained"

"i dont like bustamante...he's too much of a politician who looks like a weasel. he can't distinguish himself enough from davis. i still like camejo"

"I'm not sure where camejo is on fiscal issues, but I like him for his social issues. he doesnt seem to talk about $$$."

"I like camejo. too bad hes last place."

"he started the green funds - as far as mutual funds that only invested in green or ecologically responsible companies. i just like camejo...he's sincere honest..and he kinda knows he cant win."

"typical green." "heheheh I like him. he's like a politician who won't play the political game."

"camejo came across very intelligent today. even in the other debates he came across as intelligent and sincere. but I liked ueberoth too...he made $$ sense...he wasnt pretty and slick enough though."

"moderator should have shut off arnie and arianas mike 10 mins into the debate, they kept talking over others, esp bustamante"

"ariana is used to that from her normal tv shows, heh."
"heh yep. and nobody talks when the terminator is next to them"
"heheh she's been on crossfire too much"
"yeah the arnie-ariana exchanges were crossfireish"
"better zingers on oreilly factor or hannity and whatever"
"the debate was televised nationally?"
"yeah, suprising"

McClintock was GREAT I absolutely Loved him and would vote for him in a heartbeat. I think that the governor of california is definitely low aim for him. He should be the Senator and go on to be presidential material. I will forgive his crossed eyes and call him...

Recall Debate Transcript - September 25th, 2003

Tom McClintock -
"That's actually the campaign that I started five years ago, to abolish California's car tax. It is a tax on a necessity of life..."

*********************

A "necessity of life," the Right to Travel.

Requiring taxes on a Right is indefensible.

Definitely a 1-2 finish. Not a bad night, they should do it again.

Requiring insurance before "allowing" people to exercise a Right is indefensible, too. :)

Arnold sells out.

Yes it has been now reported in the Media (right here) that Arnold has indeed been bought and sold out. For how much money you ask? Zero.
Why?

Because -
"You don't need any money to buy someone who stands for nothing."

That's right. If elected, Arnold can potentially remain Gov for 11 years. Will depend on how soon a shot at Senator comes up.

The problem with Mr Tominator is that he is just not an exciting candidate. While he has great ideas that are stated articulately and authoritatively, he just doesnt generate the kind of excitement that is required to push him over the top. You have to remember that the Calli Fornicators vote along ideological lines unless they can find someone to get excited about. They seem to get all excited about Ahnuld.

There were a few people in this thread that detected the existence a gentlemans agreement between Tom and Arnold.
