My nephew, Jordan, who is the son of fellow FReeper InGodWeTrust, is having open heart surgery at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin tomorrow, Sept 4. Jordan is 13 and contracted a very severe case of Rheumatic fever, which has attacked and damaged two of his heart valves. The surgeons will have to repair/replace them both in surgery expected to last 5+ hours. My sister and her husband are scared to death, Jordan is being very brave, and Auntie (me)has decided the best thing I could do for all of them is to ask for prayers for successful surgery and speedy recovery.

I'm overwhelmed by the prayers of faith and support offered by each and every one of you. I know God is listening and will answer them.

I visited with Jordan and my sister Traci and her husband Tim last night and gave them all a big hug and as much encouragement as I could. Our family has been praying hard for them all and my husband even put in a good word with his beloved grandma who went to be with the Lord a year ago.

Today, when I go to the hospital, I will be sharing the prayers you have offered. I know they will be touched and grateful for the spiritual support of so many. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all.

I had some heart surgery in 97 and I am doing fine now. I pray and hope he will be completely healed. That is a lot of surgery he is going through.

Yes, it is a lot of surgery. It is likely this will have to be redone again during his lifetime. They were told yesterday during pre-op tests/meetings the surgery will take 6 hours at minimum, 9 hours if things do not go like clockwork. It will be a long day. The prayers help so much. Thank you.

Perhaps you'd like to start a separate thread, requesting prayer for him? There are strong prayer warriors on FR - and they love nothing more than to be asked to pray for someone. There are others who have prayer chains at their Church, where you can in short order, have thousands of people praying for your husband.

Dear God In Heaven,
We petition you on behalf of this little one who has had a damaged heart because of rheumatic fever. We ask you to overshadow the docs and nurses and other medical professionals caring for him. Heal that heart. Heal the muscles, the valves, the circulatory system, the immune system, and all body systems which are out of balance or weak.

Father, surround his parents and family with our prayers and your love. Comfort them and give them strengthe and peace while they hold vigil for this little one.

Father, we ask that all our prayers be aligned with thy Will and be multiplied to cover all who may be in similar need.
