What did Roosevelt call it?

Public works?
TVA?
Something like that.

I checked the radar loop on intellicast. No convective storms anywhere near Niagara Falls all day. As Squidward would say, "What a load of barnacles!"

You have to give Cnn credit on this one. They are doing a nice job.

I was watching Fox and the reporter was also talking about some kind of error. When the second plane hit he said something like "this isn't looking good but let's not jump to conclusions" This may have been just been some kind of mechanical problem but IMO, if it was terrorism they aren't going to tell us unless they have to.

People don't get to look up at the "big picture", and ponder eternity.

I'm lucky and live where you can see the stars most every night -- and I've been without power for as long as three days. In a ways it's good for us ----- to realize we can survive without being completely dependent on that kind of thing. It's always good to keep some candles and flashlights around.

I wish you'd stay with the organization...like I said, the Petronettes WILL NOT resemble me. I promise.

Ok...I got some DNA samples of Ted Williams laying around somewhere.

The sun blinked here a minute ago.

What did you mean by that comment?

Is it possible that unusual activity on the sun is linked to the cause of the outage?

Too bad they don't keep that attitude on election nights

How do they "spin down the generators" and keep up steam from the reactors? That energy (high pressure steam) has to go somewhere. All the reports and common sense tells me you got to shut off that heat source if you have no load on the turbines.
But I am a deck officer, not an engineer.

Why is Bush adressing the nation over a lightning strike

And if President Bush didn't speak he'd be criticized for being insensitive to the needs of the country. Left/Media would attack him for being too busy with fundraisers and vacation to take the time out to comfort the nation.

Times have changed since 9/11. I've been following this thread from the beginning. There are some real tin-foil-hat theories out there. I think it is quite proper and necesary for the President to tell the nation (not just those affceted) what is going on - even if it is "everything is ok".
