A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....06-17-03....FReeper Fun in the Sun

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Or...How I'm Spending
My Summer Vacation

"Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go...."

School's out; summer's here.....

and that means baseball, cookouts, picnics in the park, lemonade stands, amusement parks.. and family vacations.

MinuteGal (aka Bahama Mama) and about three dozen other FReepers and FRiends recently returned from their second fun-filled FReeps Ahoy cruise, and 'DaBear family (Mama_Bear and JKPhoto) just got back from a wonderful week down under. While there, MamaBear got to cuddle with a Koala bear - one of the highlights of their vacation.

Our daisyscarlett's taking her traveling seriously this year - she no sooner got home from a month in their secluded cabin on the lake (miles from shopping and EVERYTHING!), than it was time to pack her bags to go somewhere ELSE! We hope we get to see her before the year is over! :)

To grandma's house, the beach house; the cabin by the lake, a cruise, to the mountains, San Francisco, DisneyWorld, a Dude Ranch, Golf Resort, Health Spa, Hawaii, Alaska, Six Flags.....where are you going this summer? Stop the newspaper, hold the mail, hire a plantsitter, pack your bags....and take us WITH you!

Or maybe...do you have a memorable vacation from the past - when everything that could go wrong... DID?! You can probably laugh about it now. :) Can't you? Now's the time. This is the place. :)

The guy's good, folks!
Thanks, Mixer!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Love the shells in your presentation, and the dog laying on the dock. Great job Billie!

Thanks again, Colleen. I thought those were some of the prettiest shells I'd seen for a background, too.

One of my favorite vacations was when friends and I rented a Winnabago and went across the country. Yep, America is BEAUTIFUL! Still love going to the beach and relaxing, lazy days in the sun.

America the beautiful - coast to coast - Sea to Shining Sea! :)There is so much of it I haven't seen though. :(

The Rocky Mountains are so beautiful!
Growing up in flat Florida, I was in heaven when we went to live a year in Rapid City, South Dakota, enthralled with all the rocks.

We'd go exploring on every break, the boys then 6 & 7, plus dog.
The little guys knew the way to win ponts was to gather the prettiest rocks for Mom's growing collection, dutifully depositing them in the car trunk, and then on the shelves on the porch.

When we went next to Fairbanks,Alaska, the moving man was stumbling down the ramp with a *very* heavy box, mumbling,
"Whaddya have in this, lady? ROCKS??!!"

Needless to say, the boys were convulsed with laughter...still have a few pieces after 40 years, dutifully hauled all around America....:))

Yeah!

But can you believe that as close to DC as I am You'd think I would've had at lease one chance of seeing the President or the First Lady. But the closest I got was seeing Marine One come flying by the Washinton monument once and over the Capitol Building back in March of '01.

Right now I have no vacation planned, but it would have to be someplace cool. I'm thinking maybe the South Pole.

Added benefit: There seems no chance of accidently running into a certain hostess there. :-)
