They both are upstanding Americans that we ALL should be proud of. I've only skipped around in the thread and haven't seen any haven't seen anything directed toward Ruben, though there may well be something here.
My gripe, and I think it's the same with most disappointed folks right now, is with Fox and the incredibly biased way in which they conducted this thing. They picked their winner almost from day one and did everything possible to come up with this result. If they had conducted this thing fairly, Clay would've won by a mile.

I agree Clay has 'Broadway star' written all over him, he had great ability to 'sell' the song no matter what the material.
Reuben will be a solid R&B and Gospel singer I have no doubt in terms of record sales..

I didn't like Josh's performances at all. I thought Clay should have won and Kimberly Loche should have come in a fairly close second with Ruben trailing them and maybe tied with Vanessa Oliverez.
They shut the phone lines down so that votes for Clay couldn't get through.

LOL. Aside from CSI and Forensic Files (which I hit and miss), this is my one TV vice. Tongue back at you. It's going to be a long summer, especially with those kids we have to keep in check. God willing you have better luck than I know I will. Hahahaha

Howdy - congrats to your guy...yes, I'm disappointed, but they'll both be famous! We were having a discussion on the real cause of death of Cass Elliott - the Mamas and Papas. Apparently an autopsy showed a heart attack rather than the "ham sandwich" cause.
To: Jorge
No he doesn't! If you watch closely you will see that he sweats like a pig and spits while he sings too! You are far too critical.
How old are you? Because my 9 year old granddaughter has more finese'!

(If we are deemed 'far right wingers', does that make them 'left side wrongers'?)
To: All
I tried to make this an optional read-type thing:
"Before you may post this message, the following must be corrected: * Could not find anybody named 'anyone who cares'"
Here's my rant:
Why is acceptable to mock someone because of weight?
Politically correct humor topics:
Fat (which for some is *any* body fat; Twiggy was the standard when I was in HS and because I had breasts, at 5'6" and 116 lb. I still thought I was fat and ugly. We won't discuss self-fulfilled prophecies or anything at this point.)
Trailer trash
Christian (especially if you lump them in with other words like rightwing and extremist)
Cracker
It's true that Ruben's weight will affect his stamina. That's proven by his performance.
Having said that, as conservatives, we know all about biased reporting. We've had to read it and listen to it for years.
Bias is one thing. Bigoted, mean-spirited comments -- whether they're race-, weight-, or other predjudice-related -- are something else. I'm not trying to sound holier-than-thou. We're all human and as humans, we're flawed. But by my observations, conservatives as a rule tend to be those who follow the golden rule and are nicer. Maybe it's impossible never to cross the line between passes as funny for somebody and what's cruel to another. I laughed at the Momma Cass joke, but cringed at some of the Ruben weight comments -- even though I'm not a Ruben fan.
Just my thoughts....

Why would a man who loves the Lord sing "Imagine" ?

P.S. MM---
Do cheer up, friend. I feel the same way, but know that after giving it a rest, we might get into the next show after all. The story of people following their dreams is irresistable, really.
I'm definitely skipping American Juniors, though!
To: MississippiMan
If they had conducted this thing fairly, Clay would've won by a mile. 1,300 votes is a bit suspicious.
Simon was bad enough, but then Randy Jackson's fawning over Ruben from day one was disgusting.

LOL. I know. I did love it, though. Music has always been a huge part of my life. Did it really matter whether Ruben or Clay won? Nah, but it was damn fun.
To: Benjamin Dover
He's a dime a dozen, but he'll get fat(pun intended)
Are you that sore of a loser? Gawd, what would you have said had Clay won? Nevermind, I do not want to encoursge you.

My beef is more with the voting system..totally unfair....You are correct about the sound quality...I have a great sound system set up to my tv...the difference in their voices and quality...well, there was no comparison.....

Good post, Samantha.
Might I also add one thing: Clay said on last night's show that he had put this "in God's hands." He must have His reasons for Clay as to why it went this way.
I can't help but think that Clay will be the ultimate winner. What record company, producer, promoter, coach, band, etc. wouldn't want to work with a guy that treats others so well, is genuinely so giving, and is so good at taking the high road.
To: ShadowDancer
That's the unfortunate part of this show. They're looking for the best mainstream pop star, but it's basically a singing competition. So even though Clay has an incredible voice he was never going to win because Simon didn't know how to market him as a pop star. Simon said tonight that the audience went for talent over image, but if that were really the case Clay would've won.
To: JustPiper
A pop idol should not be morbidly obese and Ruben is morbidly obese. That's just a fact. I don't mean to be mean. I am just telling the truth. Clay is too skinny and his ears stick out. That's true too. But if you have to pick one, the skinny one can at least move around and dance some and won't keel over from a heart attack.

Do NOT put words in my mouth. I never said any such thing.
He DOES sing off key.
He DOES NOT have any range, period.
And he WAS the judges choice from the very beginning.
And like I said, past contestants have SAID he was going to win, period.
