"Ruben can't sing and he proved it again tonite."
I wouldn't go that far, lots going on onstage, but I think the real bigtime singer in this competition was Kimberly Locke.HANDS DOWN!Beautiful and talented....

The show is called "American" Idol, not "Pop" Idol and I'll stick with my statement. Clay will be the bigger star. See, I can make emphatic statements too. We both have our opinions. Like I said, time will tell.
To: Hazzardgate
That's bs .... Rubes had soul. Right..if a 300 lb sweat hog spitting all over the stage is your definition of "soul".
Ok..he did have a nice voice. But Clay's voice was better...and definitely more soulful than Rueben's.

I would be embarassed that people are that worked up over a singing contest :) I turned into it with 30 mins to go, so I could see what was going on...
Then why post? And follow the thread into the 400's?

"He sweats like a pig."
And sings like the lover most will never have.
Thankfully.... because most have mace to ward off such fat smelly pigs.

d Lord you sound like the Gore camp in 2000. Please, this is only a singing competition. But I don't think it would've killed Fox to dole out another million and declare them both winners because the votes were so close (within any margin of error).
To: cincinnati65
I repeat, why is it racist to say that Ruben won because AI decided in the beginning that a black guy was going to win?
Have you missed all the past contestants who have been all over TV, saying that Ruben WAS going to win because that's who AI wanted to win and who they were pushing?
Do you know that Ruben is the ONLY one of the contestants who was in the bottom 3 that didn't lose?
And Clay was NEVER in the bottom 3.

Do you know if we can pre-order Clay's CD on Amazon.com?
To: Carolinamom
Frand Sinatra also didn't look like my daughter's kindergarten teacher minus the make-up.
Don't misunderstand, I think Clay has a good voice. His range is incredible and he has come a long way in his 'Idol' appearance and, I think he is probably from what I've seen one hell of a person but, he is not, I repeat, not pop or mainstream.
Would I pay to see a concert of his at the Palace or Joe Louis? No way in hell. Would I pay to see him on Broadway? I would sell my children to do it. That's that's not the point of the show, though. He just doesn't fit the bill.

I also thought the weight comments were inappropriate. I did not think Josh or Kim Locke were overweight.
That said, I am not upset Ruben won. I liked him and Clay fairly equally. I spent the competition rooting for Josh and Kim Locke.

A co-worker told me about the Amazon.com thing yesterday. And several internet polls put Clay clearly ahead of Ruben. But those aren't necessarily the voters, or the voters who will spend hours dialing over and over again. Example: Ruben's mother claims to have gotten in about 100 votes. That's some diligence!!!!! But is it "fair?" Of course not, it's ridiculous!
I have a mixed group of co-workers; like it or not, they were split almost completely down racial lines on this outcome. Can anyone say: OJ jury?????????
OK, call me a racist. Feel free -- I call it as I see it and this same scenario just plays out too often, over and over. Whatever, there is no loser in a no-contest event.
