Don't misunderstand, I think Clay has a good voice. His range is incredible and he has come a long way in his 'Idol' appearance and, I think he is probably from what I've seen one hell of a person but, he is not, I repeat, not pop or mainstream.

Would I pay to see a concert of his at the Palace or Joe Louis? No way in hell. Would I pay to see him on Broadway? I would sell my children to do it. That's that's not the point of the show, though. He just doesn't fit the bill.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I can listen real well to Clay's CDs.

That's the unfortunate part of this show. They're looking for the best mainstream pop star, but it's basically a singing competition. So even though Clay has an incredible voice he was never going to win because Simon didn't know how to market him as a pop star. Simon said tonight that the audience went for talent over image, but if that were really the case Clay would've won.
