I dialed a zillion times for Clay last night and I never once got through.

Yes. I have got tears filling my eyes watching them. That song always gets me.

According to Amazon.com, Clay's CD which has not even been released yet is hundreds of points ahead of Ruben's. What does that tell you about who can sing! And who can't!

Big bump to your comments. I am really a little ashamed of some of the comments that I'm seeing here tonight. Playing right into the DU hands, sticking the GOP with that permanent racist label that we can't seem to shake.
BOTH young men were talented. BOTH deserved to be on that stage tonight. They have two different styles and two different talents. The difference to me personally, was that Clay seemed cookie-cutter and prepackaged pop-star, while I felt the emotion when Rueben sang. Rueben's ability to draw you into his world is what separated the two for me.
A thousand votes is nothing out of 24 million. Both were winners, and both will be successful.
To: Pokey78
"Neither one of these men are losers. They both are upstanding Americans that we ALL should be proud of. "
That's right. Both wholesome men. No drugs, no cursing, no sex filled videos. American Idol is a pretty good show, it does promote wholesome, talented young people.
Can't wait for Clay's CD. I will buy it...but not Ruben's. Ruben just does not interest me. He's nice, he's talented but he's lack luster. Clay has a little mystique about him and he's got a fantastic voice.

It's a tie and zillions of people love Clay and they love Ruben so both will do well.

Well, my whole west coast family was patiently waiting for 8PM, and studiosly avoiding the internet news, when FNC announced the winner a few minutes ago. Thanks for nuttin', Fox!
Go Clay. The women in my house love him, as... well... testosterone-challenged as he seems to me.
To: redlipstick
My 12 year old just said that she'll never watch it again, ever, and went into her room and shut the door. Well I'm going to try out for the next one if the auditions come to Chicago. Then maybe we'll have a conservative American Idol.
Anyways, I was hoping Clay would win. I'm not buying the whole close vote thing, but I'm not going to scream that it was affirmative action. Reuban deserved to win just as much as Clay.
The key winner will be who sells the most records.

>> He sweats like a pig.
If he did, he'd be dry. Pigs don't sweat. Which is why they roll in mud - to get wet, and the drying process cools them.

To: RedWhiteBlue
You're analysis is correct, Red. The statistical tie shows that the phone lines were maxed out. It doesn't say anything about the total number of people who were attempting to vote for either contestant.
Oh, well. Record sales will be the greatest vote of all.
To: redlipstick
"I won't be watching FOX News tomorrow - it'll be all-Ruben, all day. Sickening."
My local Fox news station, 10:00PM News has had Rueben nonstop for the past 20 minutes....NO OTHER NEWS.

When I reached over to dial at 9 PM last night -- there was no dial tone......and not on my cell phone either. For almost 30 minutes.
And it's the second night that has happened here.

Whew! The Ditzie Clucks didn't win. That would have really ruined my night. Toby deserved so much more, but, oh well.
To: Theresa
He sweats like a pig.And sings like the lover most will never have.
On the other hand you have Fivel who can belt it out but looks like Martha Raye but more feminine. I'll take sweaty. It's simply more productive.
To: SuzanneWeeks; Jorge
We don't discriminate against fat ugly sweat-hogsNow come on. That's just RUDE!!!!! Ruben has a lot of talent and a great personality. It was justifiably close. I know a lot of people who flat thought Ruben was the better talent. I personally think they are dead wrong but that's not the point. My gripe is that the show pushed Ruben over Clay. For Clay's sake, we, his fans, shouldn't hold a grudge over this. It will just reflect badly on Clay.

They didn't decide. Ruben got 1300 more phone votes.
Clay is no loser. They both will sing their way to the bank.
P.S.- My comments were not aimed at you specifically, I wouldn't do that.

And then, when I did get a dialtone, despite having bush redial, I NEVER got through.
Neither did anybody else I know who dialed the entire time.

Thanx for the bump! I woke up 5 minutes before the end, glad my daughter taped it ;) Can we go to favorite moments of the night? Being that my daughter replayed the "I Love to Love You Baby" it is mine, but it would be anyway. I think Simon genuinely was waiting for that kiss ;)
