Another tornado moving into Oklahoma City

Storm spotters report a large tornado approaching Oklahoma City. This just happened yesterday. God be with those people.

These people are trained. All of our TV stations hire stormchasers. They warn all amateurs that haven't been trained to stay out of the way.

The ones for the Center and OU are also scientists studying the storms. Their vehicles they drive around here look right out of the movie Twister.

You are right...it is the "force of nature".

F-4, F-5 tornados have the force quite similar to that used in ALL of the shock and awe nite in Bagdad. When Mother Nature puts on a show, she puts on a show.

There are alot of paid and volunteer fire departments that are storm watchers, too, but though they may chase the storms a bit they don't go too far since they might be needed for other things.

I live in a small town about 65 miles due south of OKC and it's not uncommon to see SUV's which are outfitted with storm tracking equipment. I believe a number of the storm trackers are volunteers and some are employed by the National Weather Service.

Of course, storms like this can reform and strength or completely dissipate in a short time.

I live in Norman which is south of the tornado area by about 20+ miles if not more. Been glued to the TV set as this went across north OKC.

It cant last forever, the last radar image the weather channel showed, showed the storm was changeing shape, perhaps it is finally dieing.

2 miles sw of Chandler, tornado on the ground, 1/2 mile wide. Moving toward Stroud (11:51 p.m.)

Its too bad the Weather scientists werent tracking the Jerrell tornado with that mobile velocity radar, I would have liked to have known what the wind speed on that mother was, it had to be over 300mph.

Sorry, missed this post, watching the news, 2 radar sites and trying to keep up with 2JedisMom. I can't recall where I heard but I seem to recall a wind speed being recorded of 380 I think.

EVEN MORE STORMS EXPECTED

The city was still assessing the massive damage left by a monster twister that slammed into it on Thursday, causing at least $100 million in losses. And forecasters said the worst may not be over.

“Saturday through Sunday morning, the greatest potential for severe weather will stretch from eastern Missouri through much of Illinois, Indiana and western Ohio into southern Lower Michigan,” the National Weather Service’s parent agency, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, said in a statement.

My word, I am learning a lot of tornadoes the last few days.

Tuesday night, we went through a watch in the basement. It hit four miles from us and multiple spottings of funnels much closer.

Our town does not even have sirens.

Thanks. I appreciate it especially since my son is in North Okc staying with friends and the tornado went 1 1/2 miles south of their house and my daughter was on a school bus in El Reno and this tornado went right south of them. Hubby and I were home but had to seek shelter when a funnel went over our small town.

It's been hectic trying to make sure everyone was ok.
