Trudeau insults Christians in Easter Day Doonesbury cartoon

On Easter of all days, Gary Trudeau uses his Doonesbury cartoon to insult Christians in general, and George Bush's faith in particular. How quick the liberals are to condemn someone else's faith and belief system, but just let a Christian say anything negative about another's belief system and how quick they are to invoke an injunction against "judgementalism."

I don't read Doonesbury anymore, but I would try to not be offended by this. Like all the anti-war protesters, it's not about any specific issue, it's about President Bush. This is an anti-Bush cartoon rather than an anti-Christian cartoon. Bush's faith just happens to be the target chosen.

Good point.
Besides, evolution is a (pagan) religious doctrine. It is integral to Hindu ontology, for instance.

Actually Jane Pauley was succeeded by Deborah Norville and then Perky Katie. Deborah was easily the best looking of the three coming out of Chicago as a newsreader and getting the nickname anchorfox.

Trudeau embodies that 60's era anti-Christian, U.S. hating leftistism. He clearly isn't as smart as he clearly thinks he is.

Stopped reading Doonsbury years ago....this just refreshed my memory as to why.

I haven't read comics in years. I fail to find them humorous. This one in particular is offensive.
I look at it this way, if man's fallible knowledge is what one must depend on then is it a wonder that the world atlarge is VERY troubled? This cartoon seems to emphasize that man's knowledge is superior to God, that is the Judeo Christian God. LOL to that.
I rest assured that the "Christian soldiers" pleased the Judeo Christian God in halting evil. What saddam insane did to those people is unthinkable. The peaceful caring muslim neighbors did absolutely NOTHING but get annoyed that the U.S. actually brought this reign of terror to an end. It's amazing how evil is confused with good by MANY.
As I was saying ... it's not TRudeau and his liberal chums that I need to stand before when I account for my individual life. It will be the Judeo Christian God. While I have too many faults to expand on, I humbly acknowledge that God has the big picture and His Words are as true then as today. I don't use arrogance to cover for my finite knowlege as atheists and unbelievers do. They insist on using their finite knowledge as the yardstick for infinite knowledge. Can't get more arrogant and presumptious than that and of course they don't believe there could be a god since that would tak away from their extreme self importance.
Utlimately unbelievers will have to account and spend their eternity in hades. Atleast I know that I'll be in heaven. I expect to see more of this.

The difference between [Scott]
Adams and Tru-duh is that Adams is a true genius, with a razor sharp satirical sense. Well, that and absolutely no artistic talent, as he freely admits. Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes) was one with real artistic talent as far as comic strips go.

"How does evolution contradict God?"
The Hebrew of the Old Testament, Gen. clearly states God created everything in seven, twenty-four hour days. Man was created in God's image and I dare say He wasn't a primitive ape. To believe in evolution is to call God a liar. Either you believe what God says or you don't.

If anybody is reading a Gary Trudeau cartoon searching for anything approaching truth, humor or talent, he is sadly misdirected.Pleased with himself, though, inni? Oh, we liberals are so educated and sophisticated... and we only killed 100 million people in the 20th century.

With a good screen name like you have, and your professed view of Trudeau, I am baffled as to the tone of your responses on this thread. The strip insults and mischaracterizes Christians and those who reject evolutionary theory. It attempts to belittle Bush by including him in both of these categories. What part of this don't you understand?

Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes) was one with real artistic talent as far as comic strips go. Calvin and Hobbes rules. That was true talent. Unlike Tru-duh.
My current favorite is the intelligently sweet Mutts.

Will he complain about Moses having taken unilateral action against the Amalykites in the Ten Commandments?

But the cartoon states that Creationists, who are 100% thiestic (and many.most are Christian), are unknowledgable in all the major sciences. No, it doesn't. It makes no claim of "unknowledge" -- instead it explicitly says that a Creationist must "repudidate [i.e., reject] the core tenets of entire fields of study". That's a different thing entirely from not *knowing* those fields.
And frankly, from what I've seen in evolution/creation debates over the past fifteen years, that's essentially a correct description. In order to maintain a creationist belief and reject the various evidences for evolution, creationists reject accepted principles in many sciences (although some creationists reject different combinations than others), such as radiometric dating, the constancy of the speed of light, hydrology, the geologic column, the age of the Earth... the list goes on and on.
It is a direct slap on Easter, on fundamentalists and an indirect slap at their God and Christ-believing brethren.
Hardly. It's just a (mild) slap at the hardcore Creationists, and hardly an unfair one. Many "Christ-believing brethren" have no problem accepting evolution, and thus wouldn't be the target of Trudeau's joke.
