FREEPER REPORT APRIL 5, 2003: Pro-America Rally with Glenn Beck in Clearwater, Florida

I'm probably the first person from Free Republic who attended the Coachman Park Flag Fest that's already home. I selected the front page for this report because those of us in attendance from Free Republic invited rally participants to visit us here. It will be much easier for them to be welcomed on the front page. Welcome.

I will have pictures from the rally and will be posting other links here. Flyers were flying in addition to all the American, British and military flags. There were some great signs too.

I was interviewed for local television but as time is always short, I'm not going to stay glued to the set for a glimpse of me. Let's just say that my sign may be on local Channel 13 (Fox) over the reporter's head at the anti-war moshpit, numbering a dozen or so. The short interview which is about that very sign is for local UPN Ch.4 or Ch. 9, I can't say for sure.

Promises kept department - SerpentDove made a very nice collage of Support Our Troops Rallies. I printed out three, attached red and blue markers with rubberbands and gave them to three people asking them to say something to our troops and pass it on. At the Donation Station ALL THREE! showed up with hundreds of support messages to our guys and gals. Unbelievable! Thanks SD - Your work is on its way!

Help - We heard shouting and noise for the southeast area but couldn't tell what was going on ... A couple people said they'd stopped allowing people into the park as it was "full" but that the "outsiders" regularly went with "USA! chants." Any more info?

Well, we went to the rally this morning, but I didn't meet up with any Freepers. Where was everybody? We went to the bandshell, but we were late--about 9:50. Nobody back there but security and a few (a very few) anti-America geeks.

But we did meet some friends, a pastor who discipled us in our early days of salvation, and I got some great shots of signs.

Also got some pics of the protestors. They were in a cage type thing, made of barricades. It reminded me of a zoo, or perhaps a freak show. 'Step right up, see the fascists! Be utterly amazed!'

Anyway, here are the pics...

This guy was great. He stood right in front of the protestor's 'cage' section and laughed at them the whole time. In fact, laughter was the most common reaction to these people.

Tunehead: Fantastic idea...printing out that collage and circulating it....I'll do that for our Venice Rally tomorrow. Then send them to 'my adopted Marine' in Iraq.

I'm exhausted as my dinner guests just left.....but I wanted to pop in to see what a great Rally you all had in Clearwater.

I saw some tv news coverage on Ch 13 earlier.....what a beautiful sea of red, white & blue! Kept hoping to see some freepers in the crowd!
