"US will lose war", says former UN inspector
March 26 2003 at 06:42PM
Lisbon - The United States does not have the military means to take over Baghdad and will lose the war against Iraq, former United Nations weapons inspector Scott Ritter said.
"The United States is going to leave Iraq with its tail between its legs, defeated. It is a war we can not win," he told private radio TSF in an interview broadcast here Tuesday evening.
"We do not have the military means to take over Baghdad and for this reason I believe the defeat of the United States in this war is inevitable," he said.
"Every time we confront Iraqi troops we may win some tactical battles, as we did for ten years in Vietnam but we will not be able to win this war, which in my opinion is already lost," Ritter added.
'It is a war we can not win' Stiffening Iraqi resistance as US-led forces close in on Baghdad have prompted questions about the strategy to use precision air power and a smaller, fast moving ground force to topple Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
Some military analysts have said there are not enough allied troops in Iraq to take control of Baghdad, where Saddam Hussein's elite troops are said to be concentrated, and that the planning of the war was overly optimistic.
But British Prime Minister Tony Blair told parliament Wednesday the United States and Britain believe they have "sufficient forces" in Iraq and London was not planning to send reinforcements to the country at this stage.
A combination of bad weather and heavy fighting in central Iraq has slowed the advance of coalition troops marching on Baghdad.
Ritter resigned in August 1998 after accusing both Washington and the United Nations of not doing enough to support the weapons inspectors.
Since leaving the UN weapons inspectors team he has become an outspoken critic of US policies towards Iraq. - Sapa-AFP

"We do not have the military means to take over Baghdad and for this reason I believe the defeat of the United States in this war is inevitable," he said. What qualification is this idiot having to make him an expert on war strategies and foreign engagements?
He had better shut the hell up, 'cause he is looking more and more like Saddam's amen corner in english.
With respect for this forum netiquette, I will refrain from spewing in a very raw lingo how I feel about this low life.

Well ... he may have gone too far, but whatever it is they know about him has to something awful enough for him to be willing to lose his citizenship. I agree he is really pushing the envelope.

I saw a picture of that beautiful young 19 year old female soldier from WV named Lynch who is MIA after that wrong-turn ambush last Sunday. She has everything in the world at her delightful hands, but she became a soldier, went to Iraq in duty, and no doubt sacrificed her life in terror and violence so that WE can be free, WE can safe, and maybe 19 year old Iraqi girls will have wonderful life prospects ahead of her too. Then I saw the predictable a-holes like Brian Williams, Terry Moran and Bill Plante and CNN's dung beetle Jamie at the Pentagon sneering and manipulating and affecting their pretentious contempt. I saw Tom Daschele and Nancy Pelosi and some flea-ridden anarchist chaining himself to something, and I saw Kofi Anan and some poll and another smug rebuke by that NAMBLA aroused French foreign minister. All of them just pleasuring themselves. Doing nothing positive, nothing meaningful and looking forward to spitting on cops, lunch at Sardis or living large at Judy and Al's hump-day cocktail party cuz they really gave Ari some crap today.
We have 250,000 Americans and Brits of the courage, integrity and import of Private Lynch in Iraq right now. We have a CIC who is resolute and strong, a military command and warrior class of unparalleled excellence and resource, and a virtuous mission for them to pursue on behalf of a supportive citizenry. Some gang of scab ridden, asexual oppressive thug elite is gonna stop us? Some lying cockroach and his soulless gang of fellatio- hyenas is really any factor? No, neither the editorial board of the New York Times nor Peter Jennings and the ABC News staff have a chance. The Iraqis are in even worse shape.

Enough already. We disagree. We don't simply disagree.
You've taken a simple word (original) and have attempted to twist, contort and manipulate it to fit your stance.
Your attitude reagarding this simple issue baffles me, and frankly, I think you're either pulling my chain or you're an idiot.

To: Grampa Dave; Miss Marple
Miss Marple had felt for a long time that Ritter did his pervert thing in Iraq and ended up on Iraqi Candid Camera. Yeah, but Dave, Miss Marple ALSO thinks Michael Jackson had some "work done" on his nose and sleeps with unrelated children, Anthony Pellicano and a pet chimpanzee at ... get this ... a place of "magical child happiness" called "Never Never Land". She even claims when was born in Gary, Indiana ... he was racially an African American. LMAO!
Next thing you know, she'll be telling us that George Michael cruises beachfront latrines for anonymous gay sex or that Madonna isn't really anything "Like a Virgin".
Marple. She's worse than Rivero!
Ritter is dirty as hell. I'll wager he tipped Saddam's lapdogs in advance of all the UNSCOM "surprise" inspections.

I'm glad I didn't see any of that. It was bad enough reading the last issue of Newsweek before the war while sitting in a waiting room. "Where Bush Went Wrong" was one subtitle. C'mon Doc, don't keep me waiting! But I pressed on, because I want them to eat their words (I hear the media research center had a field day today). My cousin is our sitter - her blood pressure shot up two weeks ago. All she has to watch is Jennings, Rather or Brokaw. I asked her to turn on her radio instead. I think many, many Americans are truly sickened by their conduct. Jennings has been here for 40 years and has never become a citizen for heaven's sake. But I think in the long run capitalism will make a big hit into the leftist media, and this country will be stronger because of it.
Thanks for your reply. HOORAH! I'm gonna check out Diogenesis' pics now and print a few for our sitter.
