(CBS) An American soldier is among three suspects being held in connection with a grenade and small-arms attack that injured at least 16 U.S. soldiers at Camp Pennsylvania in northern Kuwait, reports CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassman, who is on the scene with the Army's 101st Airborne Division.
Eleven of the injured were hurt so seriously they had to be choppered out of the camp.
Strassmann said three grenades were rolled into three officers' tents at the camp. When officers ran from the tents, they were hit by small arms fire.
Three suspects were being held for questioning: two Kuwaitis who served as translators and an American soldier described as an engineering sergeant.
The American was found injured and hiding in a bunker. Asked if he was hurt throwing a grenade, Strassman reports the soldier replied, "Yes."
Separately, Strassmann reported, an Iraqi rocket fired at U.S. forces in Kuwait was destroyed by Patriot missiles launched from nearby Camp New Jersey.
The attacks on U.S. troops came as the American assault on Iraq gained steam. American and British forces besieged the southern city of Basra and pounded Baghdad with impunity.
Coalition ground forces crossed the Euphrates River and were within 150 miles of the capital. Theyre still meeting only light resistance, with many Iraqi troops surrendering or simply leaving the battlefield.
But six divisions of the Republican Guard, Saddam's best and most loyal soldiers, were still in the way.

Well the media told us Tim McVeigh was a member of a militia and a member of the Christian Right.
The fact that both statements are totally false would probably surprise 70-80% of the public, perhaps even more.
I heard him describe himself as an agnostic, and he had no connection of any kind to a militia. He did attend one meeting of the Michigan Militia and was asked to leave.
I guess engineers are plotting to destroy America. At least, White, Christian ones.

He was described, according to Fox, as a "Muslim-American", and then they showed a short videotape of him.

(Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with a "4".)

How much longer before the civil war here starts?

Aaron Brown and Gen. Clark now trying to blame the incident on the solider's "superiors." They are saying the soldier was probably "under an incredible amount of stress." This is revolting.

My TV blew up tonight so I'm reduced to a choice between NPR and CBS radio. I chose CBS CBS radio has been atrocious tonight. I can see through eerything they are saying for what it is: enemy propaganda. The cover up of the BLACK MUSLIM aspect was despicable. 60% of the coverage focuses on the protesters--with no mention of looting or behavior. The exchange with the pollster and the weasel host was a classic lesson in media bias. (CBS host: "Ah, but do they approve how much the war costs...") I can't even watch Fox. They have togo west and Gerry Rivers--I will get my news from the Internet henceforth.

Gawd, I'm going to puke like a SanFran protester! Sure glad I don't have to depend on the Communist News Network for my information.
Gulf War I, we had to depend on cable news for our information, it jumpstarted CNN. Now, we have the power of the Internet for the viewing of the truth about this war. Technology again empowers the common man.

I think maybe some idiots needed this wake-up call.
Of course most won't wake up, still.
But some will.

The sad thing is that the 40% or so of the population that never digs beneath the surface won't ever hear the full truth about this guy, and the full truth about a lot of important stories, until fair and balanced journalists dominate the mainstream press, instead of the propagandists currently in place--especially at places like the AP, Reuters, and NY Times.
Lead stories and broadcasts are, IMHO, purposely scripted to influence the relatively uninformed who might just happen to hear/read it. Just think about how much influence the 24 year-old DUI report had on the 2000 election (probably caused a 3% shift to Gore in the final 3 days).

That gives us 1,625 black muslims, and this frightens me. I think that you are misunderstanding the term "black Muslim." It should be a reference to a religious organization/movement, a.k.a. the nation of Islam or similar group. You can find so-called self titled "white-christian" groups as well.
If CBS meant anything other than a member of one of these type of groups, then they were clearly in the wrong.
And of course you cannot assume a black muslim is a member of one of these groups, any more that you can assume that a white christian is a member of the racist "white christian" groups either.
