It was about the "middle East Peace" issue... very short.
Palestinian prime minister, etc.
To: Lou L
Essentially, that the US will endorse the plan of the Quartet (US, EU, UN, Russia) once the Palestinian PM is confirmed.

No, but he has so much on his plate, and this has got to be related to Iraq though. Geesh, if I were a fly on the wall...

"Live" threads are often that way, but eventually the transcript will be posted. That will help.

This speech was about the Middle East of Israel and Palestine with the usual rhetoric they must live in peace.
Not one word about Iraq, gave a roadmap to peace, wants Israel to end their settlement activities, and Palestine to end violence. Ealier this week the WH wanted Arafat to give powers to the new PM. This speech was to tell Arafat to suceed the power to the new PM.
Those are the highlights of speech.

Basically, he was trying to drum up votes by not talking about the Iraq issue at all, but talking around it, IMO.

Imagine if this was just a code for start of the war. LOL... sheesh. Yesterday one of our members was trumpeting the idea that "the trip" Bush was about to take was the code for GO!

This sounded like a "deal maker" speech, probably given as part of a bargaining deal with fence sitter country?

If that's all it takes to get the 9 votes, they're pretty cheap. Funny what turns on some countries.
Mention Middle-East Peace Process to me and I start looking for a pillow.
To: mhking
He did nothing of the sort. This speech was intended to tell the Saudis, the Jordanians, and Mubarak that we'd be in for the long haul diplomatically. This gives us a free hand diplomatically in Iraq.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

no Azores, no ante, no turkey, no France. Mostly I think the big message here was about the new Palestinian PM to come on board. I'm hearing news analysis say that the US would likely only work with the new PM instead of having to deal with Arafat. FWIW
