He did nothing of the sort. This speech was intended to tell the Saudis, the Jordanians, and Mubarak that we'd be in for the long haul diplomatically. This gives us a free hand diplomatically in Iraq.

MSNBC still insisting that the Azores trip is all about language for the resolution that the 6 countries can accept. Pres wants to be seen "taking one last step for peace". Now reporting that Bush will address the nation Monday night too.

Geeze Louise. I hope not.

Yes, it was far more important for the symbolism than the substance. He didn't say anything that Condi or Colin couldn't have said on a Sunday talk show without much fanfare.

But it tells the world that Bush has more on his plate than just Iraq, and that we're not getting ready to launch a war against Islam.
