FoxNews Alert just reported that Iraqi troops have left Baghdad with heavy artillary and are heading south to the Kuwaiti boarder. More troops with SCUD missle launchers are heading west. The thought is that Saddam is about to attack our troops.
This is breaking news and details are few and far between.

That's it...just a little closer together. That's it. Say cheese for the MOAB!

I always hate it when someone spouts out "but it's a dry heat".
There comes a point that it's just too damn hot.

..... At the end of my first week in-country I met an information officer in the headquarters of the 25th division at Cu Chi who showed me on his map and then from his chopper what they'd done to the Ho Bo Woods, The Vanished Ho Bo Woods, taken off by giant Rome plows and chemicals and long, slow fire, wasting hundreds of acres of cultivated plantation and wild forest alike, "denying the enemy valuable resources and cover."

If you can figure out how to level Pairree any lower than it already is, more power to you (sounds impossible to me, though).

I agree with you prediction-
I think sick man's loaded up those scuds with Chem/Bio. He's banking on the Americans blowing them up for him. Sick man will then have created a 'toxic maginot' line.
I wonder about land mines, if he could have loaded them up with Chem/Bio as well?

Grrr. Every news channel that I flicked on has the Smart story. Baghdad could immersed in a mushroom cloud and the media would still think the 'Smart' story is more news-worthy. Frankly, I'm sick of hearing about that freaky family.

They have been bucking the administration all during this thing with the Pali's. Personally I think Sharon cares more about protecting Israel than he does about toeing the Washington line.

OUR SHIPS HEADING TOWARD THE RED SEA?
Remembering what happened to the USS Cole, I'm a bit nervous about them doing through the Suez Canal. I fear mines and/or terrorist tug boats.
Lord, keep our sailors safe!

" Allowing tactical movements like this, if we're going ahead anyway, can only cost American lives."
Yes, they may achieve a tactical advantage in the short run ...at the beginning.
But..
It may well be that the targets of our attack aircraft may be "troops in the open" versus a deeply dug-in defensive ring around Baghdad.
We are going to take over this country. Racing across open desert to a fortified city may not be preferable to taking out units isolated in the south.
We will see.

We asked them not to retaliate the last time and we gave them the missiles to intercept incoming missiles. I do not believe there is such an agreement this time.

Last time, we bribed them to not retaliate, and sent a bunch of British SAS into the western Iraqi desert on Scud hunts (among other books, I recommend Andy McNabb's "Bravo Two Zero".

Jordan has been very quiet as well. Last I heard anything from the Saudi's is when they told Saddam you are not coming to Saudi for exile. And the Saudi's got in a shoving match at one of their Arab meetings.
Actually the Arabs have all been very quiet the last few days!
Maybe all the spinning at the UN has them confused too!

It definitely was a strange day. And now with all the talk of probably no vote....well, hopefully we're close.
Hear later tonight the 6 swing votes now have their own proposal. I shared this news with my dh and he said, "sheesh, everybody thinks they're actually a player!"
