I bet that senile old Helen is probably sitting over in that room where the daily press conferences usually are, wondering where everyone is and what's taking so long to get started. Maybe even Ari is over there talking to her and cracking jokes to distract her attention. Brilliant move!
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Exactly! This is for world consumption and for those weasels at the United Nations tomorrow. Takes a lot of time saying the same thing to get their attention.
To: sinkspur
Bill Plante is no logician, is he? "Saddam will not disarm, people want him to disarm, but absent evidence these people don't support war."
Dolt.
To: Edmund Burke
True, he doesnt need Parliaments permission. But when I listened to him last week he said he would go back to Parliament before pursuing war if the UN did not give permission. Labour was not happy to give him their votes last week even when he indicated that he would go to war only if the grants appproval. I think they will throw him out very quickly if he orders troops to participate w/o UN authority. Also, I am not at all sure that the Monarch will back him either.

Garbage? This guy can't make it more clear: Saddam is going the way of the dodo. With or without the U.N. GHWB's problem was being limited by the U.N. This CINC ain't gonna do that.

I'm frankly disappointed that the Administion does not do a better job of reminding the American people of the Democrats who voted in supported regime change in Iraq.
They VOTED for regime change.
To: Ipberg
What's with the *IF* part of it?

Saddam's time is up..... The time is imminent....
I think people that don't see that are looking with rose colored glasses. His somber tone is very telling, IMO.

It's not that he's somber and quiet - I have no real issue with that. It's that there seems to be something else going on, something that seems quite wrong but that I can't put my finger on.
Someone above said that it's like he knows something either has or will go real bad but can't tell us - that's the closest to what I've been thinking that anyone has expressed so far.
And regarding the bitching - I'm as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours.

If the majority of the American people feel he should be disarmed and he isn't disarming, than we will see to it that he is disarmed. Simply put!

I'm sorry. This thread is about his press conference. In this press conference he said his job is to protect the American people. I'm saying he's not doing that. How is this thread then not about that? Is this thread simply here to cheer him on regardless of what he says? Are you even listening to him or did you abdicate your thought processess when Clinton left office?

To: MeeknMing
Reminding the people that Saddam lied in his declaration. We are not going to wait until Saddam attacks. I hope he leaves the country. Exile is fine.
