Left Wing College Entry #9

Posted on 02/26/2003 6:54:51 PM PST by ConservativeMan55

And now some words of shi...er...wisdom from my Socialis...uh...Business Law professor.....

. . . "Those aren't babies in there, they are unfertilized eggs!"

"Socialism would be great if it worked, but it doesn't! I would love it if it worked, because you over there could collect garbage, and you over there could make software, and both get paid the same! Now lets get back to talking about this redistribution of wealth thing. I really think its a great idea."

"I think everybody in the military should be over 65, and we shouldn't have any young people in there. The old people have enjoyed America. These young ones haven't enjoyed it yet, and I don't like seeing young people blown up"

"If you use Blistex you are a slave to the Blistex corporation. All Blistex does is make your lips dryer so that you have to use it more often"

"I think that germs are a very good thing. If you are constantly cleaning yourself, your body won't have anything to fight, and as soon as you get hit with one little virus, your going down like a sack of potatoes. This is why I occasionally don't wash my hands after using the bathroom, and touch doorknobs, and then go eat sandwiches"

"Who you know is Affirmative Action for White people. It strikes me as odd that George Bush got into Yale because of who his Dad was, but at Michigan they aren't allowed to do the exact same thing"

"All the rich states voted for Gore, and all the poor backwards uneduated states voted for Bush"

My essay question for my other American Prez class is this. I would appreciate it if you guys helped me with this one.

Discuss the formal and informal qualifications and the current electoral context for presidential candidates. How do these affect the qualifications and potential for a successful presidency today?

>>many Irish women do not seem to have single piercings let alone multiple<<

As you probably know, it's a Catholic thing (the body is the temple of God). And I think that, in general, it is correct. I am not a prude, but I find tatoos, multiple piercings, etc. rather vulgar and offensive.

Do what I did: realize that a college degree isn't worth the paper it's printed on, and drop out. I spent six years at the University of Chicago, had A's in my major and B overall. And when I was there (1971-77), the U of C had real grades, too.

Ignore the academic world. It isn't worth the powder it would take to blow it up.

I do believe that the U of MI policy of admissions granted extra poiints for legacy. If I remeber correctly, it was 6 points vs. 20 points for being black, hispanic or native american. Yale I am unsure of but I think they had a high percentage of "legacy" admissions vs. standard admissions

The prof can't even get his talking points right.

To each his own. My sister also has a small tatoo which caused quite a row in my father's family(rowdier yet at the same time more conservative than my mother's family). That is until my brother showed up with both ears pierced and a very large tatoo of our family crest on his arm.

Personally I don't get the guys with earrings thing and I am deathly afraid of needles.

Informal qualfications for President include such things as:

Name Recognition
Past accomplishments (e.g. MBA degree, pilot's license, prior public office, popular book, bi-lingual, tax-rebates, business experience, law degree, military service)
Reputation (e.g. works well with both Parties, tells the truth, follows through on promises, speaks bluntly, moral)
From the right region (e.g. from a part of the country that can be "swung" to vote for either major Party, not from an area of irredeemable corruption such as New Orleans or San Francisco)
Know the right people (you've got to be "in" with the movers and shakers to get good press and easy campaign donations)
Has to have held consistent political positions on the major issues of our times
Has to be likeable and mainstream (e.g. likes babies, likes cats and dogs and horses, likes baseball/football, goes to church on occasion, drives own car, opens doors for other women, donates some time and money to charity, et al).

Ahh, I had an earring for a while (small diamond stud). It was sort of my very tiny protest -- also the girl I was going out with at the time thought it was sexy ;). But I also had 20+ years in my field and could get away with it -- and I got rid of it when it didn't fit.
When I see some of these idiots parading around with shaved heads and tatoos (some of them guy), I have to wonder how they make a living outside of McDonalds or Mobile Gas Stations. Would YOU hore someone like that? I cna guarantee they effectively cut off any hopes for a life beyond the single-wide.

In my "Comparative Politics" class here at Vanderbilt we have been discussing Capitalism all semester. My professor recently printed out a list of review questions for the test. The list was titled "Satanism 101." What a great professor.

You have two courses of action:

1. Go with the flow and give the self-hating whacko what he wants, get out of his class with high scores, get a recommendation letter from him, then put it on your wall next to your RNC poster and tell everyone how you have the support of a DINO professor.

2. Fight the son of a bitch every step of the way. Ask how his personal beliefs apply to the subject at hand. Let him know you will record (using your PDA, laptop, RadioShack recorder, whatever) his response and will submit it to the Dean and, of course, the local Newspaper and the campus rag. You may not win, but you might be able to establish a pattern of discrimination based not on knowledge, but on liberal prejudice. If you can get that info to Rush and to the Federal Govt (who funds the school) you might be able to send him on Academic Leave and get a CR in the class.

Choose wisely

>>Agreed but not washing your hands after using the bathroom and then eating a sandwich is kind of gross. <<

I just typed in a long suggestion on how you could use his predilection away from sanitary conditions against him. Then I removed it since it is probably violence against him and I don't want to upset the AM.

Oh well.

The affect of the informal and formal qualifications for President is to limit the available pool of contenders to a very small, accomplished group.

In another language one would call that group the "elite".

But worthy of note is that the American system is unique in that heritage or class is culled OUT by those qualifications. The rich dilletante who inherited money but accomplished nothing on her own simply isn't eligible, nor is someone who merely inherits a political name (e.g. Eisenhower or Washington).

Unlike historical monarchies (e.g. England, Saudi Arabia), inherited class and money yield no sure advantage in American politics; and unlike in Soviet-era Russia, China during the Great Purge, or Communist Cambodia, inherited class and money yield no certain disadvantage in America, either.

Wow; the business people here are mostly liberal (funny because the lady who led the business dept. at my HS was the wife of the county chairman for the 2000 Bush campaign). But, at least they can admit when conservatives have a good point and often, they even sound pretty conservative on some issues.
