WABI TV reported Friday that the Maine National Guard Family Assistance Center has received about 30 complaints from children of deployed soldiers concerning Principals, Teachers and Guidance Counselors reportedly demeaning the role of their deployed parent. Some children involved are 7 to 9 years of age.
Here is a letter written to a friend of mine from the Maine Army National Guard:
"Thank you for your interest on this most troubling matter. Our Family Assistance Centers have reported cases from Aroostook County to Southern Maine. We are reluctant to give out specific schools and the individuals involved in the interest of giving the education community a chance to address the problem itself. Also, parents wanted the opportunity to pursue the issue through their local school boards first.
In all, we have over thirty complaints that name schools and individual principals, teachers and guidance counselors. If one considers that these complaints come from just the parents who attended our briefings and only from children who told their parents, we are concerned that the problem may be more widespread than we know.
We are recording the complaints, and I will personally visit these educators to express our concern as a professional organization and ask for their cooperation.
Ultimately, our main concern and first responsibility is the safety of our children during these uncertain times. Maine has a core of dedicated and professional educators, but we will challenge any individual who places our children at risk due to their own political ideologies."

We need to get our children to record what is going on in botth primary and higher ed. I don't know the laws but it would seem to me that a public discussion funded with our tax dollars allows us the right to be able to review whats being taught. Exposure like this is becoming the only recourse it seems.
Pass it on!!!

Dear Civilians, We know that the current state of affairs in our great nation have many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military. For those of you who can't join, you can still lend a hand. Here are a few of the areas we would like your assistance with.
1. The next time you see an adult talking during the playing of the National Anthem .... kick their ass.
2. When you witness firsthand someone burning the American Flag in protest.... kick their ass.
3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see someone doing otherwise quietly pull them aside and explain how these Veterans fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on the many sacrifices these veterans made to make this Nation great. Then hold them down while a Disabled Veteran kicks their ass.
4. If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that you were. Wearing battle dress uniforms (Bud's), telling others that you used to be Special Forces and collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay if you were still seven. Now, it will only make you look stupid and get your ass kicked.
5. If you witness someone calling an enlisted Marine "Sir", stand back....a Marine will kick their ass.
6. Next time you come across an Air Force member, do not ask them, "Do you fly a jet?". Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot. Such ignorance deserves an ass kicking (children are exempt).
7. Roseanne Barr's singing the National Anthem is not a blooper ....it is a disgrace and disrespectful. Laugh, and sooner or later your ass will be kicked.
8. Next time Old Glory prances by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your heart. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her .... of course, failure to do either of these could earn you a severe ass kicking.
9. What Jane Fonda did during the Vietnam War makes her the enemy. The proper word to describe her is traitor. Just mention her nomination for Woman of the Year, and get your ass kicked.
10. Do not try to discuss politics with a military member or a veteran. We are Americans and we all bleed the same regardless of our part affiliation. Our Chain of Command, is to include our Commander-in-Chief. The President (for those who didn't know) is our CIC regardless of political party. We have no inside track on what happens inside those big important buildings where all those representatives meet. All we know is that when those civilian representatives screw up the situation, they call on the military to go straighten it out. The military members might direct you to Oliver North. (I can see him kicking your ass already.)
11. "Your Mama wears combat boots" never made sense to me .... stop saying it! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and probably kick your ass!
12. Bin Laden and the Taliban are not Communists, so stop saying "Let's go kill those Commies!!! And stop asking us where he is!!!! Crystal balls are not standard issue in the military. That reminds me .... if you see anyone calling those damn psychic phone numbers; let me know, so I can go kick their ass.
13. Bus Driver, Jar Head, Grunt, Swabbie, Squid, etc., are terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless your are a service member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them and could get your ass kicked.
14. Last but not least, whether or not you become a member of the military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving and religious holiday that you enjoy with your family and friends please remember there are, literally, thousands of troops overseas wishing they could be with their families.
15. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our country would get its ass kicked.

Those surveys aren't confidential even though the school might claim they are. A bunch of kids in a Boston high school took a "confidential" survey which asked questions about race, made derrogratory remarks about certain ethnic groups, and were suspended from school.
I bet no one will ever take a "confidential" survey in that school again.
New Jersey put a stop to surveys which didn't have written permission from parents. Schools like the idea of what they call "passive consent" meaning that they don't ask parents for permission but will honor an opt out if a parent doesn't want her kid taking the survey.
The survey in Ridgewood, NJ, was given to junior high kids and up. It was very intrusive -- delving in sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Most of the kids treated it as a huge joke -- usually quiet, thoughtful 13-year-olds divulging that they were rabid sex maniacs and drug users.
The school said they wanted answers from the kids so they could develop a health curriculum. Some kids were even lied to, told they had to take the survey, and it would reflect on their grades.

You're correct for the most part, but I have to add that politically, a goodly portion of Maine's
voters are babes in the woods.
You know who I'm talking about; the good people around Bangor and vicinity that kept sending Baldacci back to Washington and elected him Governor even though he had virtually no platform or program.
The people who voted because, "Hey Johnnie B is a nice guy and besides he's from here. Got to be good for Bangor." DUH!

This is good!,
After it becomes clear that the Iraqis are ecstatic with their liberation, these teachers will have 3-egg omelettes on their faces, and these kids will never again trust liberal teachers. Perfect.

I have uncles, all good men and brave; firefighters.
I've spent hours talking politics with them for over forty years. They live conservatively, they think conservatively and they vote Democrat.
You can run down a list of issues with them and they'll agree with you, jot and tittle and at the end tell you that's why we need more Rats.
I'm at the point where I just can't deal with the cognitive disonance anymore.

I am so mad I could spit.So am I. I hope and pray the President says something about this, as the Commander in Chief.
These "teachers" are just yakking over the heads of all the kids in their classes, regardless of who they are or who their parents are. Imagine your face turning red as your teacher tells your class your parent is scum, and your country is scum, off to kill babies.
Public school teachers are there to teach reading, writing, and arithmetic. If there is extra time to indoctrinate, they are not teaching, and the children are not learning. And I doubt any parent sends his child to school to be indoctrinated.
Homeschool if you possibly can!

Let's make sure everyone knows about this except our troops in the field. Word about this thread got loose on the USO Canteen posting and I gave my personal guarantee that this situation would be handled. I'm counting on my fellow FReepers to back me up just as we're backing up our troops. Those are our sons, daughters, neighbors, co-workers, and just plain fellow Americans (who are anything but "just plain") out there on the line for US. So please, add your voices to mine. I'm wearing out my keyboard but need your help.
