Saying that she is strongly opposed to "illegal immigrants," New York Sen. Hillary Clinton announced Tuesday that she would support a national identification card for U.S. citizens if other measures to keep illegals out of the country failed.
"I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants," Clinton told WABC Radio's John Gambling. Then, a few moments later, the Democratic Party presidential frontrunner added, "We might have to move towards an ID system even for citizens."
Clinton said she would support a national ID card as part of an overall effort to improve the U.S.'s national security.
"Clearly we have to make some tough decisions as a country," the top Democrat warned. "And one of them ought to be coming up with a much better entry and exit system so that if we're going to let people in for the work that otherwise would not be done, let's have a system that keeps track of them."
Asked specifically if she favored a national identification system, Clinton said she would support "at least a visa ID, some kind of an entry and exit ID. And, you know, perhaps, although I'm not a big fan of it, we might have to move towards an ID system even for citizens."
Sen. Clinton, whose husband opened the floodgates to illegal immigrants in 1996 in hopes of naturalizing them in time for that year's presidential election, complained that too many Americans were employing illegals.
"People have to stop employing illegal immigrants," she told WABC. "I mean, come up to Westchester, go to Suffolk and Nassau Counties, stand in the street corners in Brooklyn or the Bronx (and) you're going to see loads of people waiting to get picked up to go do yard work and construction work and domestic work. You know, this is not a problem that the people coming into the country are solely responsible for. They wouldn't be coming if we didn't put them to work."

As more hispanics become affluent they will become less pawns of the DNC and return to their normal conservative values. Most people don't realise it but the social values in the carribe and Central America along with Mexico are very conservative. Just because they have carnival shouldn't be taken as a sign of widespread liberality. I have no need for another damn card that can be misused, counterfited and will cost millions to produce. This is just another ploy for a national data base and it sucks about as much as Hillary herself does.

She's what we would call "a scatterbrain". Unfortunately, I don't think that is true. Hillary has a clear agenda, she just hasn't mastered the art of obfuscation the way her husband did. So, her statements come out as contradictory rather than a natural progression. She constantly underestimates the general public and depends on limited contact to avoid questions.

This is priceless.
Every poll has shown that the electorate overwhelmingly wants illegal immigration curtailed. The administration and the RNC have done nothing to address the issue. Quite the contrary, they have attempted to exploit and out pander the Dems on the issue.
Into this vacuum steps the most opportunistic politician in history. She's evil yes, but not stupid and being the golden child of the Democratic Party and the media makes her immune from any racist allegation of her intentions. She can appear tougher on national security than the president and can tap into the ground swell of popular opinion against illegal immigration and the Republicans' inability to do anything about it.
The RNC has ignored this conservative issue and seeded it to whoever wants to run with it. We are after all the stupid party. Its makes perfect sense the evil party should take advantage of this golden opportunity.
Many of us at FR have warned that the RNC was ignoring this issue at its peril. We can debate the constitutionality of a national ID card until the cows come, its not the underlining issue here.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist
until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage."
From Alexander Tyler writing about the fall of the Athenian Republic over 100 yrs ago.

Good quote. Wasn't it Hegel, who said something like this: Those who don't learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it.

I know they have that over in England, And I do believe they are trying to test it in some cities here, DC I think? I have no idea if it is up and running though?
That being said, what happens if you look like someone they are looking for? If things keep going like this it will be my Opinion that the terrorist win. Perhaps not take us over but they will have won taking everything this country was founded on.
We must find that Fine Line between Stopping the Terrorist and not infringing on Liberties. We can Start by removing any and all Illegal aliens, and expired Visas. If they worked on that issue alone It would hinder attacks more so then tracking any American. Again, it is just My opinion.

"I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants," Oh really? What about the Hillary Amendment forbidding INS agents from deporting illegal aliens relatives (no matter how distant) of 9/11 victims.

An I.D. card in my wallet isn't as good as minefields and machine nests on the borders.
Who is this phoney kidding? She just is setting the ground for a run for office.

There was a story on this on some 20/20 show. A woman was gang raped in NYC and the hospitals are not allowed (a law Hitlery backed) to ask any suspected illegals any questions, they must treat them and they cannot report them to the local authorities. The gang rapists were illegals and this raped womans husband and herself were appalled that the illegals were above the law and roamed free.

They all look so happy...too bad they didn't read the Word to see what God had to say about getting that number. May we all be very wise about the computer chip they say has all our information on it.

KC? aren't we already "ID" enough? Well, yes and no. we still have no way to prove a person is displaying the correct ID. There have been persons apprehended with 15 IDs, each with the same picture. I don't need to be a rocket scientist to guess that each time there is a brush with the law, a new ID is given. Now, how can our incredible terrorist data base keep up?
The answer is a digital picture ID, with the photograph on file. That is the ID I am referring to and would only tolerate during a crisis like this.
To: demosthenes the elder
there is seldom such a thing as a "temporary" government power. I know, but thank you for using the word seldom. During WWII censorship was imposed then recinded after the war. I am with you on this, if the government thinks they will keep these powers after the war on terrorism ends, they will have to answer to me, and you.
