I am mid-way through both 'Slander' and Peter Schweizer's 'Reagan's War' (Both of them sent to me by my dearest book benefactor, Madivan! *S*)

I'm a disaster at picking up one book and finishing it. Currently I have six books on the go. Those two, two brain bubble-gum novels, ``Captain Correlli's Mandolin'' (nearly finished), and travel writer Bill Bryson's 'Made In America')

I read three books last week, so it's hard to keep them all on the go.

But I prefer to read like that. I absorb more when I'm in the humour to read a certain text. Tomorrow, I may in the humour for Coulter, alternatively I might be in the humour for Bryson, or equally a trashy novel.

As with everything - I like to keep my options open. Must be the journalist coming out in me.

CEO Of The Sofa got me interested in Oliver Wendall Holmes.
If he's PJ's hero, he must be good. I've never read any of his work, but now I intend to...

If you want to see the evolution of PJ, read "25 years of PJ O'Rourke", "Age and Guile will overcome Youth and a Bad Haircut" or something like that. (not the exact title)
PJ was a Flaming liberal, when in college.

I think you must be related to me. I am in the middle of "Bush at War" and "John Adams". I recently finished, amazingly enough, two novels (Prey by Michael Crichton and Red Rabbit by Tom Clancy). So, I, too have multiple books going at one time. Not to mention the daily paper, FR, skating-related magazines, etc. Instead of needing duct tape to make a safe room in my house, I think I need the duct tape to keep all this stuff from leaking out of my brain!

"refreshingly, fruittart-biting style"

heh, heh...I like that.

BTW, I hear Barnes and Noble are hiding Coulter's and Ingraham's book in the "womens" section.

Geez, am I the only one that is getting tired of Fox's "Snooze Alerts"? That stupid alert thing goes off more than car alarms at a mall parking lot. They used to alarm me, now they just annoy me.

Kind of like mhkings 300 pings a day. (I'm sorry, I didn't get me mornin' java, I'm a little crabby...)

Three books last week? wow, you are a book-worm.

hmmmm trashy novels, huh? We talkin' Harlequin Romance?heh,heh...

It's hard for me to get into a book, if I'm reading more than one at a time.

I'd like some good humor, but I've burned through every book PJ O'Rourke has, twice, most of Mark Twain's river boat travels, and also Patrick McManus (outdoor humorist) What's a good one by Bryson?

"The "regulars" are such that we have expanded to include FReepers with more than 10 letters in their screen name."

Heh, heh...well, I haven't been around long enough to be considered a "Black Thread Regular" , but I'm honored. How 'bout if I shorten my screen name to FBD?

FRegards,
FBD

"Instead of needing duct tape to make a safe room in my house, I think I need the duct tape to keep all this stuff from leaking out of my brain!"

Ice, I understand that many places are selling out of duct tape, better hurry!

Since there is a shortage, I would like to offer duct tape to anyone that is looking. I've got a case of it at my shop. Now, please don't accuse me of price gouging, as there is a small shipping and handling fee, plus sales tacks, if applicable. I'll even throw in a second roll for 1/2 the regular price of $57.50 (plus tacks)

Hey CM,

Since Muds gone, I'll ask you. Do you have a link to a site that has lyrics? I want some Cars, America, and The Who.
I'd like to try this FReepin thing. Mud makes it look easy, but I'm sure it's not.

BTW, do you think Peter Townshend now knows what it's like to be "the bad man, behind blue eyes?" yuk,yuk..

Well, off to the shop.
Catch ya soon.

YEP, "mary baby"!

seems she likes to disrobe in public, among other things!

i am reliably told by a fellow that was present at the party, that she and several other "cajun lovelies" took their evening gown tops down & "compared assets" at a Mardi Gras party in a large hotel lobby in NO.

"mary baby" was reported to be VERY drunk (NOT an unusual condition for her!)at the party.

she is a "character", as was her dad. i KNEW him.

Thanks, CM. I only know enough about computers to make me dangerous, heh,heh...

Thought I'd share this with you and Mud. A couple days ago, Mud pinged me to a thread that Mia T had started. After waiting almost 5 minutes for the thread to load, I noticed this comment by "Boris" to Mia T:

Boris: "I truly hate your graphics."

I asked Boris why he hated them, and if it was because of the thread loading time. Here's his very humorous response.
(I thought it was humorous.):

"No, I hate them for the same reason I hate Brussels Sprouts.

Once a decade I will taste Brussels Sprouts, to see if I still gag--and if they taste as awful as I remember from the last time.

Nothing could possibly taste that bad, I tells myself.

Then my taste buds remind me that something can. People who like Brussels Sprouts are not of this Earth; trust me on this.

Nobody could possibly waste time preparing such ugly, distracting, and poorly-designed HTML rubbish...but one little taste of Mia T reminds me that they can."

"Mia T is an incredibly talented, inventive, and intelligent young lady."

I never said she wasn't, and I'm not trying to insult her.

I did however, find Boris's comment amusing, about the Brussels Sprouts. Who can argue with that? I will agree with him on one point, about Mia T's graphics; I clicked on several of Mia T's link's and got...more of the same graphics, with a loading time that was too long for me to wait around and read the article.

It seems that Boris and Mia T have an ongoing feud about something, because after that exchange, they got into insulting each other.

Myself, I don't have the stomach or the fortitude for flame wars, as I don't like to post something that I wouldn't say to their face. I have done my share of offending people, and I always regret it, afterwards. As I've said before, I get a little too flipant and silly sometimes. It's a downfall of mine, I guess.

FRegards,
FBD

PS:
jla, if you are offended on behalf of Mia T, then I apologize to you...
but if you are offended because you like Brussles Sprouts, well,......heh,heh...
