A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

SOME OF FR'S FINEST PROFILE PAGES #8

Many Freepers have taken advantage of the opportunity to create a Profile Page. The results of these creations are often illuminating, humorous, inspirational, artistic or biographic, just to mention a few descriptive words.

Below are some randomly selected FR's Finest Profile Pages. There are, of course, many other FR's Finest Profile Pages worthy of featuring, and we will be featuring them in future editions of Some of FR's Finest Profile Pages. Several have already been featured (see links below). If you have a Profile Page you would like to share, or if you come across a Profile Page that you want to bring to our attention, you know the drill - freepmail Billie, Mama_Bear, Dansangel, dutchess or myself.

In the meantime, please take a look at Some of FR's Finest Profile Pages #8.

phelix is another talented Freeper with a beautiful Webpage which is linked on her Homepage - "simply a collection of flowers from my yard, my cats, my artwork and some poems and stories that are special to me. It means a lot to me to be able to share them here as part of my life...my blink within a dream." Do check out the lovely flowers. Spring is coming!

Mr. Mulliner, whose screen name was formerly Singapore Yank, has provided a recommended reading list of Christian Classics. In fact, he has nifty "bookshelf" with some of these classics. They are all in the public domain so can be freely downloaded. Just click on a title and start reading or print it out.

Mr Fowl's Homepage is devoted to the sport of water fowl hunting on the Delaware Bay. Everything from tide charts, to satellites, to navigational photos can be found here. And if you are not into water fowl hunting, have a look anyway. There is one particular link I enjoyed-one to the lighthouses of Delaware Bay. Also included are some good photos of his beautiful hunting dog, Bob.

Centurion2000 claims that his Homepage is under construction but believe me, it is completed enough to be featured here. Once you read this page, you will come away knowing plenty about this younger FReeper. He shares much of himself. He is picturered here at the Hawkwood Mideval Fanstasy Festival playing a character named Pox. Did I mention that he is interested in science fiction gaming?

Siobhan's Homepage features beuatiful religious art, mostly of Madonna and Child, with a poignant lead-in message from Mother Teresa on abortion, published in the Wall Street Journal in 1994. This message starts out "America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and...."

Arkinsaw's Homepage provides a link to "The Cult of Scalia" - a wonderful site for all fans of Justice Antonin Scalia. Some of the magnificent opinions he has written are available on this site. Also links to two fine organizations are provided - Sons of Confederate Veterans and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Mornin' y'all. I just posted the following over at the canteen. I hope I start an epidemic...

Afraid I have a confession to make.

I accosted a member of the Armed Forces last week in a Target parking lot.

This guy, dressed in Cammies, was loading stuff into the trunk of his car. I walked over and said, "Thank you for serving our country. I really appreciate it." I extended my hand and we exchanged handshakes. Nice strong grip from that young man.

His reply, "No Problem, Thank You, Sir."

After thinking about this incident, I have to disagree with his comment. It is a problem. Our armed forces are expected to survive on low wages and then face continuing reports in the newspapers and on television that the anti-war protestors are a righteous bunch of citizens.

It is time for this treatment to end! Take the time to extend a word of thanks and appreciation to our Armed Forces. Stop by your local Armed Forces Recruiting Station and tell those young men and women how much they are loved and respected.

Salute!

Always grand to see you here, MCM, co-founder of the awesome D.C. Chapter. And a beautiful posting too.

"He's the biggest loser in the universe because he never stops us. And the next time he comes he has to work still harder because we keep going and we keep getting better."

I especially liked that part. And I would add to the list of amazing things we have done in space-the repair of the Hubbell telescope....

Hi! I saw that on another post but it's good to read again.

You know, a bunch of us went to here Notra Trulock speak on his new book "Kindred Spirits" in downtown DC last night. He was great and very nice to Freepers. About six of us in the audience. I got him to sign one of Registered's Los Alamos graphics. I don't know how much reading you do nowadays, but we, the DC Chapter, are going to have a booksigning get-together for Notra Trulock in a few weeks. If you'd like me to get a book signed for you, just let me know.

That piece about Apollo makes me think those astronauts are also saying: "I was there, where were you?" We should go back out there.

God Bless!

Good morning...Always a treat to see your colorful posts from the Pacific NW. Loved seeing your photos at CPAC and your reports. You were a great representative from the Finest...as was FTH. Did you two get to meet?

Completly off topic here, but I thought y'all might enjoy. I got this from a cousin today.

A lady has cats and when she lived in the south she would take them to the groomers and have what is called a Line Cut. To her a line cut is when all of the fur hanging down below the cat's tummy is taken off (because it gets matted or snarled). When she moved to Chicago with my brother, one of the cats fur got all tangled up during the move so she took it in for a line cut. She was quite surprised when she heard the price as it was twice as much as it was down south. She confirmed with the groomer that he understood what a line cut was and he said "yes, I know what a LION cut is." It seems her accent came out sounding like LION not LINE and this is how her cat was returned to her. (see PHOTOS) She cried for a week...but not as much as the cat. It was November in Chicago and the cat needed all the fur it had.

Gas in car to go to groomers $4.50

Cat car carrier $32.99

Grooming fee $80.00

Getting the look from one seriously ticked off cat ............. Priceless!

Oh those White Castle's look wonderful. Isn't it dangerous to fly small aircraft in those freezing temperatures, though?

Thank you, daisy, for presenting these six Profile Pages!
I will visit each one today, enjoying getting to know more about them.

The waters seem to be rising around us; swirling eddies lapping at our feet, reflecting the restlessness and anxieties of the times.

As storms are generated around the world, may we rest in knowing our Lord will hold each of us and our loved ones in His hands.

With that blessed assurance, may we be strengthened and find peace no matter what situations we will be facing.

Yup! Libertina -- you saw that post of my photo of you shaking hands with David Horowitz, right? I have 2 other photos of you 2 too! (LOL -- I don't know why, I just kinda went crazy with my camera.) So if you want me to email them to you, let me know. They're each over 100,000 bytes or I'd post 'em here.

Libertina -- FYI, DC Chapter trooped over to Olsson's books here in DC and heard Mr. Trulock speak again at a booksigning. He's always been a loyal friend of the DC Chapter. He signed one of Registered's Los Alamos graphics (the one about Los Alamos being a "drive-thru" to pick up the nation's nuclear secrets, with Bill Richardson appearing in the window as the clerk who delivers the secrets).
