A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

SOME OF FR'S FINEST PROFILE PAGES #8

Many Freepers have taken advantage of the opportunity to create a Profile Page. The results of these creations are often illuminating, humorous, inspirational, artistic or biographic, just to mention a few descriptive words.

Below are some randomly selected FR's Finest Profile Pages. There are, of course, many other FR's Finest Profile Pages worthy of featuring, and we will be featuring them in future editions of Some of FR's Finest Profile Pages. Several have already been featured (see links below). If you have a Profile Page you would like to share, or if you come across a Profile Page that you want to bring to our attention, you know the drill - freepmail Billie, Mama_Bear, Dansangel, dutchess or myself.

In the meantime, please take a look at Some of FR's Finest Profile Pages #8.

phelix is another talented Freeper with a beautiful Webpage which is linked on her Homepage - "simply a collection of flowers from my yard, my cats, my artwork and some poems and stories that are special to me. It means a lot to me to be able to share them here as part of my life...my blink within a dream." Do check out the lovely flowers. Spring is coming!

Mr. Mulliner, whose screen name was formerly Singapore Yank, has provided a recommended reading list of Christian Classics. In fact, he has nifty "bookshelf" with some of these classics. They are all in the public domain so can be freely downloaded. Just click on a title and start reading or print it out.

Mr Fowl's Homepage is devoted to the sport of water fowl hunting on the Delaware Bay. Everything from tide charts, to satellites, to navigational photos can be found here. And if you are not into water fowl hunting, have a look anyway. There is one particular link I enjoyed-one to the lighthouses of Delaware Bay. Also included are some good photos of his beautiful hunting dog, Bob.

Centurion2000 claims that his Homepage is under construction but believe me, it is completed enough to be featured here. Once you read this page, you will come away knowing plenty about this younger FReeper. He shares much of himself. He is picturered here at the Hawkwood Mideval Fanstasy Festival playing a character named Pox. Did I mention that he is interested in science fiction gaming?

Siobhan's Homepage features beuatiful religious art, mostly of Madonna and Child, with a poignant lead-in message from Mother Teresa on abortion, published in the Wall Street Journal in 1994. This message starts out "America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and...."

Arkinsaw's Homepage provides a link to "The Cult of Scalia" - a wonderful site for all fans of Justice Antonin Scalia. Some of the magnificent opinions he has written are available on this site. Also links to two fine organizations are provided - Sons of Confederate Veterans and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Dutchess, congratulations! What great news :) And I am in complete agreement with you, firearm education is so important. If we were out hunting rabbits everyday, like 100 years ago, no need. But it is helpful and safe to learn about your firearm, to know it well and be comfortable. Kudos to YOU!
Beretta Tomcat BUMP!

"LOL -- I have long learned that I don't even *ask* if there is an inside joke in this place. Sometimes it looks like there is but actually there's just playful langauge."

Good evening, everyone!

Pippin, you must understand there is another 'me' who refuses to conform and behave, erupting at unpredictable times.

Addressing Miss FreeTheRubicon one evening, 'SAUSages' popped into my mind rather than HOSTages, and it amused me sufficiently to use, incongruous as it was.

Miss FreeTheAmazon fell right into step, and we adapt it 'As The Whim Turns' - not to be confused with the worm.

It's kinda like the song, 'You Gotta have HEARRRRT' - with me, it's 'You've Gotta Have WURRRDZ'..:))

It is an uncurable affliction, you understand.

Heartwarming story, Star. We have some mighty nice folks in Missouri too. : )

I wouldn't be surprised...and that's cool...I'm polish and I hate to say the all the gunk that is stuffed in "casings" that we eat and love.

That being said....White Castle is a family tradition...they were around in Michigan for over 50 years...my dad went there after he dropped off my mom to have my brother 53 years ago...my brother and two cousins went to England to spend their senior year in highschool during the 70's. The tradition was to take them to White Castle and see how many "sliders" they could eat....The last one to go (late 70's) won eating 30... No one came close to his bathroom that evening LOL!
