A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

SOME OF FR'S FINEST PROFILE PAGES #8

Many Freepers have taken advantage of the opportunity to create a Profile Page. The results of these creations are often illuminating, humorous, inspirational, artistic or biographic, just to mention a few descriptive words.

Below are some randomly selected FR's Finest Profile Pages. There are, of course, many other FR's Finest Profile Pages worthy of featuring, and we will be featuring them in future editions of Some of FR's Finest Profile Pages. Several have already been featured (see links below). If you have a Profile Page you would like to share, or if you come across a Profile Page that you want to bring to our attention, you know the drill - freepmail Billie, Mama_Bear, Dansangel, dutchess or myself.

In the meantime, please take a look at Some of FR's Finest Profile Pages #8.

phelix is another talented Freeper with a beautiful Webpage which is linked on her Homepage - "simply a collection of flowers from my yard, my cats, my artwork and some poems and stories that are special to me. It means a lot to me to be able to share them here as part of my life...my blink within a dream." Do check out the lovely flowers. Spring is coming!

Mr. Mulliner, whose screen name was formerly Singapore Yank, has provided a recommended reading list of Christian Classics. In fact, he has nifty "bookshelf" with some of these classics. They are all in the public domain so can be freely downloaded. Just click on a title and start reading or print it out.

Mr Fowl's Homepage is devoted to the sport of water fowl hunting on the Delaware Bay. Everything from tide charts, to satellites, to navigational photos can be found here. And if you are not into water fowl hunting, have a look anyway. There is one particular link I enjoyed-one to the lighthouses of Delaware Bay. Also included are some good photos of his beautiful hunting dog, Bob.

Centurion2000 claims that his Homepage is under construction but believe me, it is completed enough to be featured here. Once you read this page, you will come away knowing plenty about this younger FReeper. He shares much of himself. He is picturered here at the Hawkwood Mideval Fanstasy Festival playing a character named Pox. Did I mention that he is interested in science fiction gaming?

Siobhan's Homepage features beuatiful religious art, mostly of Madonna and Child, with a poignant lead-in message from Mother Teresa on abortion, published in the Wall Street Journal in 1994. This message starts out "America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and...."

Arkinsaw's Homepage provides a link to "The Cult of Scalia" - a wonderful site for all fans of Justice Antonin Scalia. Some of the magnificent opinions he has written are available on this site. Also links to two fine organizations are provided - Sons of Confederate Veterans and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.

On the other hand, you could be in Fla, soaking up rays on the beach...

Yeah, I guess I'd have to. I was gonna show you I could go to a Texas beach, but don't think that'd be too good right now...

Even way down in Corpus it's a bit chilly...

Whereas in Miami...

FREE GIFTS. Oh, I nearly forgot.

I got at Free Republic from the FRN booth 3 bumper sticks with bright red background and white lettering that say "You are not alone" and then "www.freerepublic.com"

Hee hee. I'll mail 'em each off to the first 3 people on my dearest, favorest-est thread, who wants 'em: just Freepmail me your address. Can't put 'em on our car in our neighborhood -- it would get hurt.

I actually think good ol' George Washington could be, simply bec of all the presidents he had the most power. He could have become dictator should he have chosen. To resist such temptation is an incredible thing. It flies in the face of the saying, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Outside of that I have to go with Reagan, who embodied the spirit of Washington, brought down the evil empire, and turned around the economy (trickle down really does work -- but not overnight). Dubya might take his place though, depending on what happens in the next few years. I honestly beleive he's doing the right things to turn the economy around -- the question is, will he be around in four or five years to enjoy the fruits of his labors?

George Washington and Ronald Reagan, two great men! :^)

I wished I'd of had the smarts to vote for Reagan, it's only after the fall of the Soviet Union that I began to realize what great President we had in Reagan. I'm glad we had eight years of him in the White House! :^)

Of course my favorite is George W. Bush.

Good morning dear sistahs..

FTH...love the detail on the calendar page today...It does, indeed, look like "home". BTW, how did that man vs computer chess match turn out. Who won?

Billie-another great week on the Finest...keep thinking about that dinosaur layout you did...so original..And the party for Wolfie was great.

Lori-pinging you so you will have something to read when you pull into port and head for Sparkeys Internet Cafe. Hope you and JKPhoto are having a blast!

Dansy-nice to see you so perky today. You really do dig Fridays, doncha? lol

Dutchess-to echo Billie - "Don't be so hard on yourself". Shoot you have a ways to go before you can equal the number of times the "Admin Monitor" has bailed me out as I seriously goofed up a post. ha ha.....I am curious though as to how you got a private message to Billie inserted in the margin of the post? Sounds hard to do...lol....

Luv you all...Have a great weekend...
