Are there any differences between Conservatives and Libertarians?

I've been reading posts by people who use the term Conservative and others who use the term Libertarian. I have a question for all FReepers, is there a difference between the two?

More important than any of our disagreements.

Our mutual enemies.

Let us defeat Communism, Fascism and Socialism together. Let us vanquish the "Third Way" from it place of power.

Then we can debate the details of our ideologies in Freedom and Peace.

I'd much rather choose between a (L) and a (R) than a (R) and a (D) or worst a Greenie or a commie, what a waste to even have to vote against these swine .

Together we can pull to the "right" side of the spectrum.

The only thing I can read from your answer is that you feel the use of red lights on a police vehicle is an unconstitutional use of force.

This is truly bizarre.

You say Government exists to defend rights is this the sole purpose of government?

Yes, I agree with the Declaration of Independence.

I kind of like the Constitution myself:

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

If I remember right your name sake supported the Lewis & Clarke expedition using government funds. I guess he had a deferent view than you of the responsibility and duties of government.

I’m happy to be a Democrap, at least we can see beyond our own noses.

What?! You got a problem working to lower taxes with some flakey ideologues who think prostitution, child pornography, heroin depots, cocaine dungeons, and gladiator rings should all be given the full legal protections of the L.P. Brown Shirts? < /sarc>

I've never seen a libertarian actually say they were for drug use.

Then you have obviously not read any of the drug threads on FR.

Goody for you.

Thanks for the cut and paste, but I already knew about it.

He was wrong on may things, but not as many as you are.

You just want stolen stuff.

Im with you but don't feel like argueing with the brick walls on the other side of the debate. There are more enjoyable ways to procrastinate from engineering homework.

There are a LOT of pro-life Libertarians.

Yes, but they differ from their own platform. Read their published platform. It's why I can't become a Libertarian.

How many Republicans do you know who don't differ on at least 1 plank in their platform?

Hell, how many Republicans do you know who even know what their platform is? Or even what a platform is? hahaha...

Getting a little testy there aren't you old buddy.

Some more cut and paste from your libertarian manifesto.

We applaud the trend toward private protection services and voluntary community crime control groups. We support institutional changes, consistent with full respect for the rights of the accused, that would permit victims to direct the prosecution in criminal cases.

I wonder who’s going to be incharge of these voluntary community crime control groups. LOL

I'd say supporting drug legalization and opposing almost every conceiveable war, no matter how just, would separate liberaltarians from conservatives.

Many Libertarians hold society in contempt and view any law or rule that takes into account a need for society as a whole

Well, yes, sensible people are no longer listening to the little boy who keeps crying "Wolf!"

If and when an actual wolf shows up, the blame for unpreparedness lies upon no one else but the little boy.

Do read more factual history, dear. It wasn't only because of Chinese immigrants, that opiates were made illegal in the USA. As a matter of fact, specifically read up on laudanum. It was the cause of many unintentional and intentional infanticides in the USA, England, and everywhere else it was legally sold. Opiates were also a major ingredient in many patent medicines, as were heroin, cocaine, and alcohol.

Unlike today, most addicts, of 100 years ago, were the dregs of society ... whores, actresses, actors, dillitants, and bums. It wasn't race, it was degeneracy. The high end mistresses of the Demi Monde, used laudanum to attempt suicide or as a scare tactic ( for their lovers ) to keep / get back a rich patron. Teens weren't doing any form of dope, for the heck of it.

I said on the open market place , ye who can neither read nor comprehend the written word.

You can attempt to besmirch me, with spurious drivel; however, those with more than 3 working brain cells can deterim that your insults hold no water.

" LORD OF THE FLIES " is the Libertarian world ideal; 11, 12, and 13 year old boys run amuck. Says quite a lot about you and the rest of the Libertarian group. LOL

It isn't " slander "; it is what the LP platform says. That so many FR Libertarians find that they are in complete disagreement with about 90 % of thier party's stances, says quite a lot about their so called Libertarianism. They chose the name and repudiate what their party stands for.

It wasn't only because of Chinese immigrants, that opiates were made illegal in the USA.

The high rate of morphine addiction after the Civil War contributed greatly to the problem.
