31-24 after 2 overtimes
Do you mean the one where Gamble caught himself by tugging on the UM reciever's jersey after the receiver shoved off?
BTW, would those saying that the penalties cost Miami the game please explain why OSU was called for 3 more penalties than Miami was?
Yep... and Columbus, OH would be on fire whether they won or lost, anyway. ;^)
As much as I hate to admit it(Go Blue)thats true. OSU's QB, while the numbers may not have been great, should be on any NFL teams top 5 list. He's got the heart of a lion(and the Lions could use a player with a spine). Finally a good bowl game among blowouts. Congrats OSU, see you in the "big house" next year. Still hate the BCS though, rather see a playoff with fewer regular season games and better regular season matchups.
Winslow was darn near unstoppable. Nearly all of Miami's clutch offense.
Miami got hosed. No way was that pass interference in the first overtime. The game should have ended there. It was both pass interference and defensive holding, either means first down OSU. Miami caught a break late in regulation when Gamble was held on 3rd down (the replay showed his shirt pulling away in the DBs hand and I don't think it was due to magnetism) on a pattern and there was no call. The Buckeyes get the call there and they run out the clock to win 17-14.

There is no such a thing as "holding-pass interference"Holding a receiver before the ball is thrown is defensive holding, five yards and an automatic first down. Pass interference is touching the receiver except as part of a move towards the ball. It's a more severe infraction that will cancel out the holding call. Both happened on that play. It's one or the other with seperate and distinct penalties imposed for each infraction.

Because they weren't calling holding generally...but couldn't let the game be decided on a such a blatant violation. This set up the game to be decided based on play, not officiating.
It was rather interesting to hear all of the pundits say that the Big12, the Big East, and the SEC were all stronger conferences than the BigTen when the BigTen had 4 teams ranked in the top 11 before the bowls. No other conference had more than 2.
Even after the bowls, they had 3 of the top 9 (1st, 8th, and 9th). Only the Big12 could match that (5th, 6th, and 7th). The others only had one each, with the PAC-10 taking the final spot.
This was the same Announcer that thought MacGahee might have been out of bounds on his TD run...not even close. MacGahee finally smoked it.
The non- Keith commentator was one of Winslows' (Miami tight end) fathers' best friends and teammates. He was saying garbage cause his emotions caught him rooting for his friend's team. Very unprofessional. The worst thing I ever saw in this regard was when ABC(?) assigned Bob Griese to the team covering an Ohio State - Mis***gan game where his son was QBing for the Wolverthings. We had to turn off the sound and turn on the radio in the bar, it was so bad.

That was indeed my point. By and large the officials did not call holding the whole game...which was why Dorsey stopped being sacked two out of three plays. spotting at the end of plays was less than perfect generally (though nowhere near as ridiculous as in the USC Iowa game). The officials mostly just let them play.
Whine. Moan. As if there were no other blown calls. As if there is no human element in sports officiating throughout the century. As if the play led immediately to an OSU victory. Miami could have still won. They didn't. They couldn't score again. You're going to give up on the game of College Football because of one mistaken call that did not directly lead to your team losing?
OSU: 14-0, National Champs.
I suspect the same goes for my beloved Browns.Hopefully Butch Davis will take out any lingering frustrations on the Squealers and one of The Teams Butch Built will carry on. >:)

Is that the one that Gamble also actually caught the ball, came down in-bounds, and the official called him out?
Miami caught a break late in regulation when Gamble was held on 3rd down (the replay showed his shirt pulling away in the DBs hand and I don't think it was due to magnetism) on a pattern and there was no callNo, third down with about two minutes left. If we're thinking about the same play I thought he was out of bounds too.Is that the one that Gamble also actually caught the ball, came down in-bounds, and the official called him out?

Oh, please. Now you're reaching for them. The weather? We're talking about a 14-0 team that started its season back in August. Playing football in Columbus during late summer-early fall isn't exactly paradise, either. Ever been there then? Its like the weather in DC, only 400 miles west.
If anything, the weather should have helped Miami. They're the fair-weather location, after all. The Bucks play in places like Madison and Ann Arbor in late fall. They like 'em cold up there...
