Crippled container ship

The damaged container vessel Kariba drops anchor in Antwerp harbour on Sunday. A Norwegian ship with a cargo of almost 3,000 new cars sank in the English Channel on Dec 14 after a collision in thick fog with the Kariba. The ship, Tricolor, keeled over after the incident 35 km north of the French Channel port of Dunkirk, which is one of the world's busiest sea lanes. -- AFP

Ahh...fond memories from days when I was about as old as this young man. We were stationed at Wheelus AFB in Tripoli, Libya. They were friendly then... We lived in Suq al'Juma, the Market Gate. Every Friday the butcher shop doors were flung open and we were greeted by the sight of fresh carcasses hung with care. Camels were the mainstay. If you watched carefully, you would see cats running in and out of the shop, up and down the displays! Hygiene in that part of the world didn't match what we were accustomed to.
